Guide to Creating a Fan Page for your Business

Getting Started
Create a personal account.
Use e-mail associated w/ your organization
I.e. lastname@business.com
Look at a few pages in a similar field to get an idea of what others are doing

Creating a Fanpage
Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
Any fanpage has a link to create your own
Choose options to best suit your needs

Customize your page
Add your basic info: Address, Phone #, e-mail, website etc.
Brief description of your business or service.
Use the pre-set fields to describe your business
Be short & sweet
Choose a profile picture that reflects your business

Import your blog RSS
Use the Importing feature on the Notes app to post all blog post to your page.
If you have more than one blog, you can collect the feeds together into one. Using sites like http://feedburner.google.com

More apps….
Facebook has many apps for Fanpages such as Youtube, Twitter, Foursquare, Notes
Choose which to have on your tabs similar to personal profile pages
Add apps that you will use and remove what you don’t need.

Promote your page
Add a widget to your website
Fan Box
Badge
Share Function
Add icons to your website
Run Facebook ads to local target audiences

Things to consider…
Always keep the image you want to portray in mind when posting status updates and links
Like/Comment as the organization/business
Update often…news, promotions, new products, etc.
Two-way communication- try interacting with fans!
Be authenitc!
