OUR PROCESS TO DESIGNING & BUILDING YOUR PRODUCT To ensure your business and users’ objectives are met successfully and always exceed expectations, ChangeLab23 take a user-centred and iterative (when relevant) approach to designing & building your product... » USER EXPERIENCE (UX) STRATEGY 1. » INTERACTION DESIGN (IxD) / GO-LIVE » INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE (IA) 7. 2. *Throughout the UX process there are › * opportunities to validate deliverables with users & iterate accordingly. › › The decision of how oſten to validate and when, usually is based on client budget, UX level of risk, level of assumptions made.BACK-END DEVELOPMENT 6. 3. • 10. 1. USER EXPERIENCE (UX) STRATEGY Encapsulates capturing the needs of your users and your business. Objectives are set for fulfilling both the user and business needs appropriately, based on highest equal value. At this point we also engage in early stage ideation around how the project will impact the wider strategy of the business. Relevent deliverables: • User Research • Analytics reports • Competitor Analysis of UX • Heuristic Evaluation of current product10 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - UX Stratagy
  • 11. › 2. INTERACTION DESIGN (IxD) / INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE (IA) Incorporates exploration of the more abstract structure of the product. In heavy con- tent based products (e.g. food shopping system, news sites, etc.) one of the tasks at this stage is to define the information architecture (IA), which includes the arrange- ment and labelling of content areas. In interaction led products this stage is concerned with interaction design (IxD), which describes the user’s interaction with your product and defining how the system will accommodate and respond to that behaviour. Relevant deliverables: • Site structure diagrams • Customer Journey Maps (in Service Design projects) • User Journeys Validation opportunity: • Card sorting • User testing11 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - IxD / IA

  • 13. 3. INFORMATION & NAVIGATION DESIGN This is typically the first step we visualise the interface between the user and the system. In this phase we focus on designing the information hierarchy on the interface, ensure key messages are communicated properly, decide how functionality should look, define the way functionality should work from a user’s point-of-view and design the navigation. Relevant deliverables: • Wire frames (Lo-fi / Hi-fi) • Sketches • Group Sketching (Co-Design tool if appropriate) • Click-Prototypes Validation opportunity: • User testing prototypes12 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Info & Navigation Design
  • 14. INFORMATION & NAVIGATION DESIGN WORK EXAMPLE WIRE FRAME (MOBILE)12b CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Info & Navigation Design work examples
  • 15. 4. VISUAL DESIGN At this stage we apply the brand to the User Interface, ensuring the right emo- tions are triggered through the appropriate use of colours, fonts, tone and creative representation of content & functionality. Relevant deliverables: • Visual Designs • Style Guides • New Brand (if appropriate, this deliverable is usually initiated much earlier) Validation opportunity: • User testing prototypes • Brand validation testing13 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Visual Design
  • 16. VISUAL DESIGN PIXEL PERFECT DESIGN13b CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Visual Design work example
  • 17. 5. FRONT-END DEVELOPMENT This stage is concerned with translating the visual deliverables into a technical language recognisable by the system. This is also the layer in which animation and transitions are finalised. Relevant deliverables: • HTML, CSS & JavaScript for UI (Optimised for key browsers) • Prototype (for proof of concept in Minimum Viable Product) Validation opportunity: • User testing14 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Front-End Development
  • 18. 6. BACK-END DEVELOPMENT Here we focus on tasks such as integrating the UI with the appropriate Content Manage- ment System, Databases, server set-up, etc. At this stage the core of the technology is set-up and our team always ensures that all key business and user requirements are met, using technology not just as an enabler, but also as an opportunity to innovate. Relevant deliverables: • Deployment files • Deployment guidelines Validation opportunity: • User testing • Unit testing / Integration testing • Final QA system testing15 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Back-End Development
  • 19. 7. GO-LIVE The reality is that NO development of a product ends aſter the go-live. At this stage we start the cycle again, iterating the product in line with changes in the business environ- ment and/or based on continuous discovery of your users’ ever-changing needs. Validation opportunity: • User testing • A/B Testing • Analytics16 CHANGELAB23A user-centred process - Go-Live (But not yet done...)
