  1. 1. Staten Island Multi-lingualNews Organization(SIMNO)<br />The goal of the creation of this news organization is to cover and market to untapped and underserved audiences and areas on Staten Island.<br />
  2. 2. ELEVATOR PITCH:<br />Have you ever felt while reading the Advance that there was just one too many stories on pot holes? I want to tap into stories not being covered and audiences that will continue to grow on this island and become its future. And hopefully not get shot while doing news near Arlington and Arlington.<br />
  3. 3. Project Proposal<br />While there exist many news organizations within NYC whose primary language is not English, I feel this to be lacking on Staten Island. To inform groups on S.I. which do not speak English and bridge the gaps between them is the primary goal of this project.<br />One main hurtle to overcome is some minorities not having available internet connection which may only be resolved by publishing a bare bones print version.<br />
  4. 4. Serving Journalistic goals<br />There are many things that occur on Staten Island that I feel ought to be told but are not by the various news organizations that cover this borough. It is understanding why these stories are not covered and then trying to that will be attempted. Also this organization from the get go will try to gain the respect and trust of its audience as loyalty from its readers and to its readers may make it equitable and profitable. <br />
  5. 5. Dealing with journalistic crisis<br />News papers cannot make the profit they used to and online news is vastly seen as for free. How to not go bankrupt?<br />
  6. 6. Using Social Media<br />The problem once again with having an audience who lacks available internet is that the cost of social interaction is still high. Covering said audience and having that obstacle will force some aspects away from online and into print.<br />
  7. 7. Market Research Plan<br />Unlike other research plans I mostly know the audience I am marketing too mainly and covering: the underserved portions of the Staten Island community.<br />
  8. 8. Business Model<br />Start small  Grow big<br />Less is more: I have seen within my friends and family too many “get rich quick” schemes that actually cost more than they profit.<br />The absolute first thing is networking and creating a website. But then question is raised, “How do you profit from this?”<br />
