Pandora

 1. 2. What is Pandora?

Pandora is an internet radio that can be personalized through preferences to play similar artists and/or songs along with one's you already know and like.

Pandora relies on a Music Genome that consists of 400 musical attributes covering the qualities of melody, harmony, rhythm, form, composition and lyrics. The Genome is based on an intricate analysis by actual humans (about 20 to 30 minutes per four-minute song) of the music of 10,000 artists from the past 100 years.

 2. 3. How to use Pandora

Pandora is web based, therfor allows an easy to use interface, with no downloading nessesary. The first screen apon arriving at pandora.com is creating a station. Quick and to the point, you go to this site to listen to your own station, and without any hoops to jump through first, you are doing exactly that.

Once you have created a station based on either a song or an artist, pandora will proceed with similar music based on the analysis of attributes chosen by the music gnome project.

 3. 4. Personalizing Pandora

Once you have created a station, you still have a part in the direction your station goes through various tools made availible

Each song that plays has it's own display window with title, artist, album, cover art, and three tools.

Menu button- "I'm tired", will enable that station to remember not to play that song so much. "why" will explain the attribute simillarities. The menu allows you to move the song to a different station you created, or just bookmark the artist or song. There is also the buy option, taking the user to a purchasing window.

Thumbs up - "i like this song" helps pandora pick the next songs according to attributes of the "liked" song

Thumbs down- "i dont like this song" tells pandora to stay away from that song and note the attributes for future picks.
