Advanced RAID and Disk Management Turbo NAS offers RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 5+hot spare, 6+hot spare, 10+hot spare, multiple RAID, single disk and JBOD disk configurations.Online RAID Capacity Expansion•Online RAID Capacity Expansion enables users to flexibly expand the storage capacity with all the data reserved.•Replace the hard drives on Turbo NAS Series step by step to increase the storage capacity. Online RAID Level Migration •Add a hard drive to the disk configuration and migrate to higher RAID configuration for higher level of redundancy. •Online RAID Level Migration allows users to transfer and upgrade the RAID level settings easily.HDD S.M.A.R.T (Self-monitoring Analysis andReporting Technology)HDD S.M.A.R.T offers a quick overview for the Hard DiskDrive Status which enables users to monitor the statusof hard disk drive to check potential problems. This toolhelps prevent the unexpected failure of hard disk andavoid critical data loss.
RAID RecoveryRAID Recovery If you unplug more than two disks from a RAID 5 volume or more than three disks from a RAID 6 disk volume, the RAID volume will crash normally RAID Recovery is QNAP’s exclusive technology. It can recover failed RAID 1/ 5/ 6 to the degraded mode and failed RAID 0 and JBOD to the normal state.
Encrypted File System to Protect Sensitive Data Leakage-1If the hard disks or the NAS were stolen, the sensitive data might be leaked! The Encrypted File System feature of the NAS allows the server managers to encrypt eachstorage volume to prevent data loss caused by theft. All the data is encrypted by AES 256-bit, malicious persons can only find scramble code on the encrypted hard disks.Applications: Bank, government, medical data, financial information, private photos, etc. Volume 1 Unlock by encryption password or importing encryption key file Encryption Key #1 Volume 2 Unlock by encryption password or importing encryption key file Encryption Key #2 Volume 3 Non-encrypted volume
Encrypted File System to Protect Sensitive Data Leakage-2The server managers can choose different levels of security. Manual unlock: A. High security The server manager can login the management page to input the password or import the key file Volume 1 to unlock the volume when the system boots up. Encryption Key #1 Server manager keeps If the NAS or the hard disks are stolen, all the data cannot be the encryption key accessed without encryption keyB. Mid security Auto Unlock: The encryption key can be saved on the Volume 2 NAS and the disk volume can be unlocked and mounted to the system automatically. Encryption Key #2 If the hard disks are stolen, the data cannot be accessed. Cannot fully prevent data leakage if the entire server is stolen, but it The encryption key is is more convenient since the server manager does not need to enter saved on the NAS the encryption password manually.
Comprehensive Event Log SystemComprehensive Event Log SystemDetailed logs of file-level data access to the Turbo NAS via Samba, FTP, AFP,HTTP(HTTPS), Telnet, iSCSI and SSH, and network services accessed by theonline users are all recorded.IT administrators can easily control detailed logs of each file (who, when, and what actions were done). The logs can also be exported as Excel (csv) file for analysis.
Policy-based Automatic IP Blocking- 1To prevent the NAS from malicious attacks, the server manager can create an IP filterpolicy to allow, deny, or auto-blocking the IP address or network domain whichattempts to connect to the NAS via SSH/ Telnet/HTTP(S)/ FTP/ samba/AFP.
Policy-based Automatic IP Blocking- 2Users can control the access to the server according to the number of timesan IP fails to login the server via a certain connection method. The connection type includes SSH, Telnet, HTTP(S), FTP, SAMBA, and AFP.
Instant SMS Alert The instant system alerts would be sent via the SMS Service provided by the SMS Provider. Users could enter 2 sets of mobile phone number worldwide at most to receive the message and manage the system in time.System Error!!
SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol)Enable SNMP service on the NAS to actively send the information, warning or error ofthe NAS to max 3 SNMP trap addresses installed SNMP management tool. Moreover,MIB of NAS can be downloaded and imported to your PC with SNMP tool. Your PC canthen acquire the info of the NAS actively, e.g. CPU-usage, temperature. Event log (info, error, warning)
Import SSL Secure CertificateThe administrator can upload a secure certificate and an RSA private key inX.509PEM format issued by a trusted provider in order to allow the users toaccess the NAS by secure SSL login
WebDAV• WebDAV • WebDAV stands for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning • With WebDAV support, the QNAP NAS users will be able to access the share folders via HTTP/HTTPS protocol remotely. • Advantages over common network file transfer protocols (FTP, SMB and NFS) • Able to use 256-bit AES SSL encryption • Bypass firewalls and proxies • Faster than Microsoft networking(SMB/CIFS) over VPNApplication Note: http://www.qnap.com/pro_application.asp?ap_id=229
