  • In 2002, a group of librarians and faculty members from the departments of English and Communication at Eastern Kentucky University sat together in hot, stuffy meeting room and discussed a dream of having a big, beautiful place on our campus where students could discover, develop, and integrate their critical thinking, research, writing, and speaking skills in outrageously creative and connected ways. Seven years and two million dollars later, that dream is becoming a reality on the EKU campus. The story of The Noel Studio for Academic Creativity is one of more than just a dream come true, but one of strategy, vision, collaboration, and hard work. This brief presentation describes the key processes that led to the formation and implementation of The Studio, now scheduled to open at EKU in August of 2010.
