  • 2. get ready! What is the reason for spending hours and hours playing a mobile game as addicting as Flappy Bird? Maybe there are no right answers, but in the moments without battery, I started thinking a little more about it. Camilo Coutinho + I found 9 lessons learned playing Flappy Bird and created this presentation. Enjoy!
  • 3. 1. stop stop and die! and die! The game starts and you need to take a quick action to not die. Just like in life, you need to move to make things happen, whether in good or bad days. It does not matter what happens, take action and don't drop the ball, because if you don't do anything you will die.
  • 4. 2. be be prepared prepared The beginning of the game will always be different, even if you have played a lot of times. You will never be sure where to start — over, under, or through The same happens every day in life, you never know when your best opportunity will be. So, focus on the road and be always ready.
  • 5. 3. tap,tap,tap… tap,tap,tap… Not too many, not too little.
You need to find the perfect balance to fly. Find your pace, according to your style, and keep it up whatever the challenge may be. Being consistent is the key to make it work. Don't take the challenges as a speed race, but as a marathon, day by day.
  • 6. 4. ups ups and and downs downs During the course there is no escaping from the ups and downs, so take chances. Mental control is essential during this moment, because if you don't have control, you will probably get depressed during the "downs" and too excited during the "ups". Find your balance.
  • 7. 5. focus focus on on your points your points It is annoying having the worst results of your group and becoming the reason of jokes. Forget about it! Don't think about your group results, just focus on your performance to handle the pressure. First of all, reach your own goals.
  • 8. 6. a a new day, new day, a new score… a new score… Relax! You won't have your best score every time you play. If one day you scored 100 points, does not mean you will score 100 points every time. It does not make you a bad player, or devalue what you have earned. Even an olympic champion has bad days.
  • 9. 7. save save energy energy Just tap. That's it. Save your tricks for another time. This game is about flying between pipes, tapping to jump. Nothing else. Spend only the energy required for this phase of the game. Save your superpowers for more radical games.
  • 10. 8. take take breaks breaks If you want to go beyond the results you have today: take long breaks and restart the game. Often we are so addicted that we need time to find a better solution.
  • 11. 9. game game over over It's just a game, and probably you won't finish it alive — not even in life. So the most important thing is to have fun and make the best of every moment, whether in high or low pipes. And yes, there’s life out there!
Forget your smartphone and go live.
