STAP The Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program
(STAP) offers assistance to Texans with a disability that interferes with their ability to use a standard telephone. Eligible individuals receive a voucher that can be used to purchase a specialized assistive telecommunication device.
This includes disabilities such as cognitive, mobility, hearing, vision and speech.
Qualifying & Applying Must have proof of Texas residency. Must have a disability that interferes with the ability to use a standard telephone. Income is not required, no age limits.
STAP facts 30 to 60 days for you to receive a voucher. STAP is once every 5 years (unless change of disability). Product warranty – buyer beware.

Technology/Equipment Hearing aids with Manual T-Coil. FM’s, neckloops, CapTel/WebCapTel, alerting devices.
Telecoil switch or “T-Coil” With a telecoil used as the input source instead of (or in addition to) the microphone, the hearing aid can "hear" a magnetic signal which represents sound.
FM Systems Comfort Contego with neckloop
Pocket Talker Can be used with head phones or neckloop
