The Wellness Community – Arizona
(TWC-AZ), an affiliate of the interna-
tional Cancer Support Community is
dedicated to providing psychosocial
supporttoanyonewhoselifehasbeen
touched by cancer.
Our program includes five core components:
All of our groups are professionally facilitated, evidence based and offered at no
cost to members in a home-like environment.
Our program can help you experience greater connection with others, find a
greater sense of control, gain knowledge and find hope.
Our Mission
To ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge,
strengthened by action, and sustained by community.

become part of our community. Join us at a Newcomer Meeting to become a
member or learn about our comprehensive program that includes offerings of
support, healthy lifestyle, education, social connection and resources and referral.

Melodie’s Program is a collaboration between the Desert Botanical Garden and The
Wellness Community – Arizona.
Melodie’s passion helped to bring TWC-AZ groups to the nurturing environment of the
Garden. Together we seek to expand the supportive community for those diagnosed with
cancer, their family and friends.
These programs are off-site at Desert Botanical Garden. Check in at Admissions/Front

We are excited to offer two new art series using clay as the medium. Joy Kockerbeck
from Creative Arts in Healing will lead these series. Class size is limited.

Looking for a yoga class? We’ve recently updated our classes to better meet your
needs. The Monday class focuses on breath and slow movement flow. The Wednesday
class focuses on restorative poses and breath work. Each class will offer a 15 minute

empowerment education seminar that streamlines information, options, and tools
for decision-making around breast reconstruction. Tamir Mosharrafa, MD, Board

from a panel of experts. Each expert will share a brief introduction of their role in
breast cancer and then the panel will take questions from the audience. Experts
from Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center include Richard Perry, MD, surgeon;
John J. Kresl, MD, PhD, FACRO, radiation oncologist; Jennifer Siettman, MBA, RN,
BSN, CRA, genetic counselor; and Meiko Onken, patient navigator. For anyone with

sibling, parent, grandparent, or other loved
one diagnosed with cancer. This 10 week
group helps children learn the skills to live
with the stresses of being affected by
