(Abstract from POWB 2014) Table 1 - Planned key activities for 2014-2016 to produce IDOs and outputs (CA) 4.1 Activity Name Mainstreaming Gender into Seed Systems in Research and Action Objectives: Gender is fully incorporated into the design and implementation of research dealing with seed systems and its implementation Geographical Location (s) including the Action Sites: NAWA: Egypt & Morocco; WAS: Mali & Ghana; SA: India; CA: Rasht Valley, Tajikistan, Fergana Valley, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Type of methods used: quantitative and qualitative, e.g. gender auditing, socioeconomic gender analysis, gender gaps Gender research dimension: gender roles in accessing seed; gender preferences and priorities in seed characteristics; gender aspects of institutions that mediate access to seed (including value chains); Linkages to other CRPs (if relevant): Research Outputs: Literature on gender and seed systems reviewed Protocol to integrate gender into seed systems research design and implementation Protocol to integrate seed systems gender research findings into field-level implementation (including policy) Research papers on findings about gender in seed system research and implementation Capacity building of scientists and gender specialists Research Outcomes: CRP partners adopt protocols to integrate gender into seed systems research NARS adopt protocols to integrate gender into seed systems research Extension services and NGOs’ adopt protocols to integrate gender seed systems into their activities
