Facilitate effective linkages and knowledge exchange among different actors for improved system productivity and better market access 3,5,6,7 2 5. Quantify resource use and associated tradeoffs to optimize community level-level decision making to promote sustainable intensification and vulnerability reduction 4,7 9 6. Promote local and regional knowledge generation and exchange for scaling up and out of promising intensification options and strategies 1,3,6,7 8 7. Coordinate and harmonize database management and research methods 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 10 8. Induce intensification and improve resource use efficiency through on-farm testing and evaluation of technologies 1,4 4 9. Review, analyze, develop and test community-based strategies for resource management including land tenure, seed systems, conflict management 5,6,7 7 10. Gaps • Policy analysis especially in Activity #6 promoting local and regional knowledge generation and exchange for scaling up and out • Processing of other agricultural products and not just forest products (Activity 10) • Ensure modeling includes socio-economic and institutional issues in addition to biophysical (Activity 5) • Effects of infrastructural development (e.g. roads) on livelihoods of the rural poor in dryland areas • Nutrition (both quantity and quality) of the vulnerable groups (Activity 10)
