Now when Jesus came into the district ofCaesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who dopeople say that the Son of Man is?“ And theysaid, "Some say John the Baptist, others sayElijah, and others Jeremiah or one of theprophets.“ He said to them, "But who do you saythat I am?“ Simon Peter replied, "You are theChrist, the Son of the living God.“ And Jesusanswered him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed thisto you, but my Father who is in heaven.
  • 2. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I willbuild my church, and the gates of hell shall notprevail against it.
