Scars Tell The Story Slides, 4/8/12
1.
2. For my part, I am going to boast about nothing but the Cross
of our Master, Jesus Christ. Because of that Cross, I have been
crucified in relation to the world, set free from the stifling
atmosphere of pleasing others and fitting into the little
patterns that they dictate. Can't you see the central issue in all
this? It is not what you and I do—submit to circumcision,
reject circumcision. It is what God is doing, and he is creating
something totally new, a free life! All who walk by this
standard are the true Israel of God—his chosen people. Peace
and mercy on them!
Quite frankly, I don't want to be bothered anymore by these
disputes. I have far more important things to do—the serious
living of this faith. I bear in my body scars from my service to
Jesus.
Galatians 6:14-17 (MSG)
3. Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with
them when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, “We
have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his
hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark
of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never
believe.”
Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas
was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came
and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” Then
he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands;
and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not
disbelieve, but believe.” Thomas answered him, “My Lord and
my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you
have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet
have believed.”
John 20:24-29 (ESV)
