Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house;your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Psalm 128:3 (ESV)
And God blessed them. And God said to them,“Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth andsubdue it, and have dominion over the fish ofthe sea and over the birds of the heavens andover every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:28 (ESV)
Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in anunderstanding way, showing honor to thewoman as the weaker vessel, since they areheirs with you of the grace of life, so that yourprayers may not be hindered. 1 Peter 3:7 (ESV)
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to theLord. For the husband is the head of the wifeeven as Christ is the head of the church, hisbody, and is himself its Savior. Now as thechurch submits to Christ, so also wives shouldsubmit in everything to their husbands.
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved thechurch and gave himself up for her, that hemight sanctify her, having cleansed her by thewashing of water with the word, so that hemight present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, thatshe might be holy and without blemish. In thesame way husbands should love their wives astheir own bodies. He who loves his wife loveshimself.
For no one ever hated his own flesh, butnourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ doesthe church, because we are members of hisbody. “Therefore a man shall leave his fatherand mother and hold fast to his wife, and thetwo shall become one flesh.” This mystery isprofound, and I am saying that it refers to Christand the church. Ephesians 5:22-32 (ESV)
