When God arrives,people RESPOND!

Revelation 1:10-17 (ESV) I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpetsaying, "Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and toSmyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea." Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of thelampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest.

The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was likethe roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came asharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, "Fear not…”

When God arrives,people RESPOND!

Psalm 100 (ESV)Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God!It is he who made us, and we are his;we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever,and his faithfulness to all generations.

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel wassent from God to a city of Galilee namedNazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a manwhose name was Joseph, of the house ofDavid. And the virgin’s name was Mary.And he came to her and said, "Greetings, Ofavored one, the Lord is with you!“ But shewas greatly troubled at the saying, and triedto discern what sort of greeting this mightbe.

And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid,Mary, for you have found favor with God.And behold, you will conceive in yourwomb and bear a son, and you shall call hisname Jesus. He will be great and will becalled the Son of the Most High. And theLord God will give to him the throne of hisfather David, and he will reign over thehouse of Jacob forever, and of his kingdomthere will be no end."

And Mary said to the angel, "How will this be,since I am a virgin?“ And the angel answered her,"The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and thepower of the Most High will overshadow you;therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God. And behold, your relativeElizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son,and this is the sixth month with her who wascalled barren. For nothing will be impossible withGod.” And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servantof the Lord; let it be to me according to yourword." And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:26-38 (ESV)

In those days Mary arose and went with hasteinto the hill country, to a town in Judah, andshe entered the house of Zechariah andgreeted Elizabeth. And when Elizabeth heardthe greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in herwomb. And Elizabeth was filled with theHoly Spirit, and she exclaimed with a loudcry, "Blessed are you among women, andblessed is the fruit of your womb!

For nothing will be impossible with God.”And Mary said, “Behold, I am the servantof the Lord; let it be to me according to yourword." And the angel departed from her. Luke 1:26-38 (ESV)

And why is this granted to me that themother of my Lord should come to me? Forbehold, when the sound of your greetingcame to my ears, the baby in my wombleaped for joy. And blessed is she whobelieved that there would be a fulfillment ofwhat was spoken to her from the Lord.“ Luke 1:39-45 (ESV)

In light of Mary’s road trip, how hard are you working at LIVING IN RELATIONSHIP?
