    How To Create a FlexBook - Presentation Transcript

    3. REGISTER: Register with CK-12 1. Click Register on the Home page ( http://flexbooks.ck12.org/flexr/ ). 2. Fill in your details in the Registration Form and click Register Now . *An activation email will be sent to your inbox.
    4. REGISTER: Validation 4. Click Sign In to sign into the application. 3. Click the link in the verification e-mail to activate your account.
    5. REGISTER: Sign In to Your Account * You may save your profile on your computer by checking this box.
      • Enter your username and password and click Login .
      • Click Sign In .
    6. REGISTER: Confirmation of Sign In
      • You will know you are successfully signed in when the CK-12 Welcome page is displayed, with your name at the top right corner.
        • Search Content
        • View Search Results
        • Preview Content

    7. SEARCH : Search Content Option 3 . Start a new FlexBook, by clicking Create FlexBook . Option 1 . Select from one of the subjects listed. Option 2 . Search for a specific subject. Human Body Option 4 . Hover over one of these books and click the View FlexBook option.
    8. SEARCH: View Results and Preview Content
      • Click Action > View Details to view the HTML preview of a selected chapter.
      • Search results are displayed under the Books, Chapters, and Web tabs.
    9. COMPILE Step I Compile Content Step II SequenceChapters Step III Delete UnwantedChapters
    10. COMPILE : Compile Chapters Option 3 . When you move the mouse over the chapter, a Cross arrow appears. Drag and drop the selected chapter to the FlexBook Editor, while holding the left mouse button. Option 2 . Click Action>Add to FlexBook to add the selected chapter. Option 1 . Click the icon( ) to create a new chapter.
    11. COMPILE: Sequence Chapters 4.Drop the chapter in the new position. 5.Click Save . 3.Drag the selected chapter to the new position while holding the left mouse button down. 2.Move the mouse over the chapter. A Cross arrow appears.
      • Click Edit or Edit This Book to expand the FlexBook Editor.
    12. COMPILE: Delete Chapters
      • Click Action > Delete against the chapter you want to delete.
      • A warning dialog box confirming the delete operation is displayed.
      • Click OK to delete the chapter.

    13. SAVE: Label Book Details
      • In the FlexBook Editor, click the title bar on the right to enter data into the corresponding fields.
      • Click Ok , then Save .
    14. SAVE: Label Chapter Details
      • In the FlexBook Editor, click Action > Edit to get into the Chapter Editor where you can label the title and enter a chapter description.
    15. SAVE: Label Chapter Details
      • Click File > Save to save your changes.
      • Click “title” and “description” and provide this information in order to save the chapter.
        • PUBLISH/PRINT your FlexBook now (purple section)
        • Further ADAPT the content you have compiled (orange section)

    16. ADAPT: Content within Editor
      • Copy the content you wish to add.
      4. Paste the content in the chapter to which you want to add content.
      • In the FlexBook Editor, click Action> Edit for the chapter from which you require content.
      • Close the Chapter Editor.
      5. Click File > Save .
    17. ADAPT: Content from External Resources 3. Click File > Save .
      • Copy content from an external source, such as a MSWord document.
      • Paste the content in the Chapter Editor.
    18. ADAPT: Insert Images
      • Click Insert > Image or the Image icon to insert images in the chapter.
    19. ADAPT: Insert Images
      • Paste the URL in the Image URL field to insert an image from the Web.
      • Click Browse to insert an image from your local machine.
      • Click Upload.
    20. ADAPT: Edit Images 3. Click File > Save .
      • Right click the image and click Insert/edit image .
      • If it is an image URL, edit the URL and click Update .
        • PDF Format
        • View my FlexBook Online
        • Print Version

    21. PUBLISH/PRINT: PDF Format
      • Click Print Flexbook .
      • A Print Job pop-up appears at the bottom-right corner of the screen, informing that your FlexBook is added to the print jobs.
      • Click Save PDF to save your FlexBook.
      • Click View PDF to view the PDF version of your FlexBook.
      • Click Library and click the tab, My Print Jobs .
    22. PUBLISH/PRINT: View My FlexBook Online Click View PDF to view the PDF version of your FlexBook.
    23. PUBLISH/PRINT: Print Version Open the saved PDF and click File > Print .

    25. Contribute to FlexBooks: Authoring Content Using a Wiki 1. To author content using the Wiki, navigate to... http://authors.ck12.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page . 2. Click Log In and enter you username and password.
    26. Contribute to FlexBooks: Authoring Content Using a Wiki 3. Create the Home page for the book.
    27. Contribute to FlexBooks: Authoring Content Using a Wiki 4. Make a list of links to the individual chapters using the Mediawiki internal link syntax and click Save . 5. Content is ready to be imported into Flexr.
