    • It is something that I can relate to.
    • There are always different studies being done on this topic.
  • 3. Topic
    • The positive and negative effects of media on children.
  • 4. Driving Question
    • What are some of the various outcomes that result from the negative and positive influences of the media?
  • 5. Thesis Statement
    • The media can shape beliefs, form opinions on subjects, and teach certain behaviors which influence children negatively and positively in many ways.
  • 6. Important Facts
    • Some prominent forms of media in the world today include television, movies, video games, and the internet.
    • The number one form of media most children are exposed to is television.
    • When children are exposed to media violence, these children may have criminal or violent tendencies later in life.
    • Media resources help students stay informed on important subjects and connects them to the world outside their own lives.
    • Mass media has the power to provide experiences on various cultures and ethnicities.

    • Created and planned a children’s book which included my information.
    • Presented this book to an elementary school class.
    • Did not have a mentor.
  • 8. How and When
    • Worked an hour every day for a week; 2 hours Friday through Sunday.
    • Wrote drafts of the story.
    • Drew pictures for each page.
    • Laminated and bound the book.
    • Went to an elementary school at the end of the week and read and discussed the story.

    • Story is on the influence of the media.
    • A children’s book is a form of media.
    • Included examples of media and various other facts from my research in my story.

    • Successes:
      • Getting paper written by deadline.
      • Finishing product on time.
      • Finding enough information on my topic.
    • Challenges:
      • Keeping up with the schedule.
      • Being informed on what was due.
      • Getting my product hours done by the deadline.
  • 12. Future Applications/Plans
    • I am interested in writing and drawing.
    • I applied these interests by choosing to make a book as my product.
    • I would like a job involving English.
