  3. 3. • It has become common knowledge that employees at all levels requirethe availability of data and information when making business decisions.Business decision makes, are required to have specific competencies tobe able to consume and organize the data in certain formats to get to theinformation required. Such competencies require high degree of criticalthinking. Critical thinking skills includes observation, interpretation,analysis, inference, evaluation, and explanation of data and information.• As the role of the CIO is mainly about information, the new evolving roleof the CIO requires him/her to work closely with the other businessexecutives to develop a culture that promotes critical thinking. So, theCIO does not need only to master critical thinking but also promote suchculture.• In summary: CIOs need to focus on having strong business wisdom inaddition to mastering technology and critical thinking.IT is about information

Types of Cloud Computing Services• Infrastructure as a service—the service provider deliversand manages the basic computing infrastructure of servers,software, storage, and network equipment upon which aplatform (i.e., operating system and programming tools andservices) to develop and execute applications can bedeveloped by the consumer.• Platform as a service—the service provider delivers andmanages the underlying infrastructure (i.e., servers,software, storage, and network equipment), as well as theplatform (i.e., operating system, and programming tools andservices) upon which the consumer can create applicationsusing programming tools supported by the service provideror other sources.• Software as a service—the service provider delivers one ormore applications and the computational resources andunderlying infrastructure to run them for use on demand asa turnkey service.
