The FEIF board and committees will meet in Malmö, Sweden from October 25-27, 2013 to prepare for the annual conference in 2014. The FEIF Education seminar was held in September in Sweden with 80 participants learning about teaching practices and demonstrations from expert riders. The 2013 FEIF Youth Camp was hosted in Norway with 35 youth from 11 countries participating in riding activities and excursions. Upcoming FEIF events and WorldRanking competitions are provided.

Committee meetings in Malmö
The Board of FEIF and the different committees will meet in the weekend of October 25
- 27, 2013 in Malmö, Sweden. The Board and the department committees for Breeding,
Sport, Education, Youth Work and Leisure Riding will meet to prepare for the Annual
Meetings during the FEIF Conference 2014. The Sport Judges Committee and the FEIF
Event Committee will meet as well. There will be a special meeting for WorldFengur
Registrars.
At several moments, all committees will meet together to discuss items of common
interest and to report about developments in the different departments.
FEIF Education seminar 2013
The sun shone kindly on the FEIF Education seminar, which
took place 6-8 September near Uppsala, Sweden. About 80
participants enjoyed a great weekend at the Agersta Icelandic
Horse Centre. The event kicked off with the latest research on
the 'pace gene', and the practical implications that seem to
open up, are astonishing (more to come!) But the focus of the
seminar was on good teaching practises, and central to the
programme were the very different but equally stimulating
demonstration lessons given by Mette Manseth, a truly
inspired teacher, Stian Pedersen, rider with a magic touch,
and Magnus Skúlason, king of pace. These lessons were
followed by a lot of questions and debate. We also had an
opportunity to see and discuss the new töltfimi, or tölt-in-harmony class. Thank you
Sweden! The organisation, hospitality and excellent company were second to none.

Youth Camp 2013
The 2013 FEIF Youth Camp was hosted by NIHF and Stall
Kjersem in cooperation with Stall SP and Vestnes
Islandshestforening. Stall Kjersem is located in the idyllic
Kjersem Mountains, halfway between Molde and Ålesund.
There were 35 participants 13 - 18 years old from 11 member
countries along with few country leaders.
Björn Kjersem and Stian Pedersen with a great support of
their wife´s and friends did a great job and offered a great variety of activities!
During this awesome sunny week in the Norwegian mountains the program was loaded
with activities such as riding up to Blafjallet, hiking with the famous Stein P. Aasheim,
training with five times World champion Stian Pedersen, watching 'green' training,

2. watching interesting movies from old times, Mongolian trip, and a trip to Sweden to buy
a coffee, and these activities all included Icelandic horses. Furthermore there was one
day of sightseeing and shopping in Ålesund, competing in a local horse club at Tresjord
hestesenter and of course making new friends for life. Stian gave also a lecture of how
he trains his horses and told the kids how to get to the top!
In the beautiful surroundings of Stall Kjersem, in old Norwegian houses with great food,
and no internet nor cellphone connection, the participants had a lot of fun during this
great and unforgettable week.
