  5. 5. In what way does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of the real media products? <ul><li>We put background music through out our news product. This was done to attract our target audience. </li></ul><ul><li>Special effect were used to edit our voices. </li></ul><ul><li>We introduced our headline. </li></ul><ul><li>We placed the most important stories first and the light hearted stories last. Vital for the audience. </li></ul>

They both: </li></ul><ul><li>Target Teenagers </li></ul><ul><li>Target both females and males </li></ul><ul><li>Target people from different background </li></ul><ul><li>Types of news - global news, showbiz news, sports news </li></ul><ul><li>Support new artist - both interview current and rising stars. </li></ul><ul><li>Helpline for the audience to call, email or text about any issues that was raised in the news. </li></ul>

Who would be the audience for your media product? <ul><li>60% of females are more likely to listen to our news product than males. </li></ul><ul><li>Boys aged 15 to 16 tend to listen to radio more than any other age group. </li></ul><ul><li>13-14 year old female listen to the radio more than boys in the same age group. </li></ul>Our target audience is teenagers aged between 13 to 19 year old. Aimed at both female and male. Include people from different backgrounds .

Audience Interest?

Radio Habits <ul><li>Our audience are more likely to listen to the radio: </li></ul><ul><li>While doing homework </li></ul><ul><li>To relax </li></ul><ul><li>While carrying out chore </li></ul><ul><li>Driving with friends and families </li></ul><ul><li>They access the radio by using mobile phone, internet or digital TV. </li></ul>Majority of males listen to the radio during mid-afternoon.

Audience habit <ul><li>70% of males listen to the radio alone. </li></ul><ul><li>32% of females listen to the radio with their family. </li></ul><ul><li>No one listens to the radio at school </li></ul><ul><li>Male (35%) and female (29%) listen to the radio because it helps them to relax. </li></ul>Boys listen to the radio alone. Girls tend listen to the radio with their families. Most people listen to the radio to relax.

How did you attract/address your audience? <ul><li>Our newscast appeals to our audience because they can: </li></ul><ul><li>Listen to the local news which is relevant to the young audience. </li></ul><ul><li>Call the helpline to receive advice and guidance about the issue that were raised in the news. </li></ul><ul><li>Interview live studio guest. </li></ul><ul><li>We used a semi formal and conversational tone when we presented our news cast. This was done because we wanted to relate and attract the younger audience. </li></ul>
  22. 22. The stories will have an impact on the audience because it is relevant to the youth as it may affect them in some way. We began with the important news first and ended with light hearted news. Salma and I were the presenters in our news cast. We spoke in first person, so that we can make it more personal. We used sound code in our newscast. Music can be heard in the background. Silence was also used while reading out the serious stories.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? <ul><li>What is digital technology and analogue? </li></ul><ul><li>Digital technology has allowed people to produce more. It is an easier way of accessing the media </li></ul><ul><li>Digital technology is now commonly used to transfer information through signals. </li></ul><ul><li>Analogue is an old fashion way of editing before the arrival of computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Digital technologies allowed us to record and edit our newscast faster and easier. </li></ul>

DAB will eventually replace the existing analogue radio service. </li></ul><ul><li>Digital Radio brings: </li></ul><ul><li>More choice </li></ul><ul><li>Improved sound quality, </li></ul><ul><li>No re-tuning </li></ul><ul><li>Extra information on broadcasts such as track names and sports result. </li></ul><ul><li>Allows people to record, rewind and pause live radio. </li></ul>
