China and Latin America – Needs for cooperation  Education is essential to the development of todays knowledge society and economy.  We face the same challenges with education: access, quality, efficiency, etc.  Countries need to work together to share best practice and jointly develop policies and systems to promote education cooperation.-5- BEIHANG UNIVERSITY

China and Latin America – Needs for cooperation  What are those needs? – Common objectives – Enhance educational quality and effectiveness through promoting staff and student mobility – Promote cooperation in strategic areas of mutual interest, such as Aerospace, Bioenergy, Natural resources and environmental technology, Ocean technology – Enhance creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship – Foster understanding of one another’s culture and heritage and learning of other languages-6- BEIHANG UNIVERSITY

International Cooperation – Beihang’s Practice  Student exchange programs: 44 – Credit transfer and recognition – Tuition fee exemption by host university – 6 months to 1 year exchange – Levels: bachelor, master and PhD – 10 programs fully supported by the CSC Top Undergraduate Mobility Program • A highly competitive mobility program launched by the CSC in 2012 to support top 10% Chinese undergraduates to do exchange study overseas • Selection of applications from 177 universities nationwide • Less than 1000 scholarships granted in total • 44 granted to Beihang (every year) • More programs expected to funded in the future- 22 - BEIHANG UNIVERSITY
