  4. 4. Step 1: Unplug the Battery • For your personal safety, remove the ground or negative terminal cable from your car's battery. Working alongside your vehicle's electrical system can be very dangerous, disconnecting your battery can help avoid serious injury caused by electric shock. Once you get this done, you can move on. In some cases you will need a wrench to remove fasteners that attach the coil to the electrical connector. • With the correct amount of force, twist the ignition coil slowly so you can remove it. Keep in mind that in some vehicles you will have to rotate the ignition coil so it can clear the fuel injectors and/or the fuel injector rails.
