    6. LINKS and SEO
      • LINKS: Google considers an authority site (one worthy of page 1 results) by the number of QUALITY back links to a site. They figure if someone is going to talk about (link to) a site, it must be a good site. But just like in life, you are who you hang with. And just like in life the more friends you have, the more you can be trusted as a reliable source.
      • ACTIONS: When creating posts, commenting on others blogs, posting to twitter etc. always create a link back to your website with valuable anchor text.
    7. CONTENT
    8. Social Media
      • Social media is information content created by people using highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies. At its most basic sense, social media is a shift in how people discover, read and share news, information and content.
    9. SOCIAL MEDIA BENEFITS
      • R each - technologies provide scale and enable anyone to reach a global audience.
      • A ccessibility - social media tools are generally available to anyone at little or no cost.
      • U sability - social media does not require specialized skills, so anyone can operate the means of production .
      • T ime - social media (which can be capable of virtually instantaneous responses; only the participants determine any delay in response).
      • S tability - industrial media once created cannot be altered (once a magazine article is printed and distributed changes cannot be made to that same article) whereas social media can be altered almost instantaneously by comments or editing.
    10. WHY SOCIAL MEDIA?
      • H ere’s the short answer:
      • “ Because in today’s society, it works.”
      • To succeed in marketing using the social media and Web 2.0 sites, you need to incorporate 2 things and do those 2 things without fail:  Build relationship and provide great information to the community.
      • One of the biggest no/no’s in social media is that you should never blatantly advertise yourself and your company.  Social media sites are run by people, consumers and users.  Remember this:  “People hate to be sold, but they love to buy.”  Never advertise your business on social media websites.  You can provide your websites and business information in the areas provided to you on that particular site, but that’s it.
      • You need to interact with the community.  You need to provide people with genuine help and answer questions to their problems.  Once you do that, people will come to you.  They’ll seek you out and they’ll find you.
