Overcoming Lack of Mobility and Social Interaction as We Age

  1. 1. Overcoming Lack of Mobility and Social Interaction as We Age
  2. 2. As we age our bodies change. Lack of mobility and social interaction can lead us to become isolated, lonely, and cause us to lose interest in things going on around us. Everybody wants to live a long time but no one wants to grow old.
  3. 3. At BrightStar we advocate a comprehensive care approach that integrates daily living assistance together with supportive and encouraging companionship to help create an active and stimulating environment in which seniors can flourish.
  4. 4. Seniors feel better about themselves and families are happier in the knowledge that their loved ones are enjoying life more.
  5. 5. Normal physical changes that can limit mobility include: • Arthritis in joints • Decreased ability to stretch and bend • Slower reflexes • Diminished physical energy • Decreases in all senses including sight, smell, touch (hot and cold) and hearing • Loss of bone tissue, particularly in women
  6. 6. Whatever causes your elderly family member to slow down, you want her to be healthy, happy and safe. Our Registered Nurses will help coordinate physician care, therapists and medical equipment to provide the best quality of life.
  7. 7. BrightStar is dedicated to providing in-home care that enriches our clients’ lives and helps them maintain the highest possible level of independent living.
  8. 8. Our in-home caregivers provide a range of care services and assistance from companion care to skilled nursing care to allow seniors and other adults to remain in their own homes.
  9. 9. Did you know you can augment care in medical facilities? We work with families to provide the best in care for the elderly at home, in nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities and hospital.
  10. 10. Our caregivers can move from home to facility and back again, providing the continuity of care. We also care for kids and adults who need anything from companion care to skilled nursing care.
