    • MINERALS! Minerals can be divided into two groups,Silicate minerals and non-silicate minerals.
    • SILICATE MINERALS• Contains oxygen and silicon• Feldspar-main component of most rocks on the earths surface• Quartz-second main component in the Earth’s continental crust. Sales Silicate Minerals Non- silicate Minerals
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSNative elements -- Copper, Cu, Gold, Au, Silver, Ag. -- Used in communication and electronic equipment.Occurred in nature in uncombined form .
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSCarbonates : Carbon + Oxygen Creates cement, building stone, and fireworks.
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSHalides- (fluorine, chlorine, iodine, or bromine)+ (sodium, potassium, or calcium) - Chemical industry + detergents
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSOxides- any elements + oxygen
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSSulfates- So4, cosmetics, toothpaste, cement, and , paint.
    • NON-SILICATE MINERALSSulfides- Element +sulfur
