José de la Cruz Porfirio Díaz Mori born in Oaxaca, the night of September 15, 1830.
In 1835, Porfirio entered the Escuela Amiga, educational institution controlled by the parish of Oaxaca where she learned to read and write. He spent his days playing with friends and neighbors Toronjo Solar. It is said that on one occasion, his brother Felix's face burned with gunpowder, and the incident became his nickname "El Chato" .
In 1843, Porfirio entered the seminary, beginning with a Bachelor of Arts. For three years, until 1846, Porfirio studied physics, mathematics, logic, grammar, rhetoric and Latin.
Three groups were fighting for the presidency: Decembrists and Porfiristas Lerdists. The Decembrists were quartered in Guanajuato and the military wing political party was Felipe Berriozábal. Diaz left the presidency to John N. Mendez and Dec. 22 left the capital with a division composed of 5,000 soldiers due to the State of Guanajuato, where he defeated Decembrists forces in March 1877. Through the mediation of Justo Benítez Díaz Iglesias and reached an agreement in which the first would have to recognize virtual Diaz as President, and in return he would cede the governorship of his home state of Michoacan. After all the political preparations carried out by Benitez and Gonzalez, Porfirio Díaz became president on the morning of May 5, 1877, the day he protested his office before the Congress.
For Porfiriato means the stage of history has passed between 1876 and 1911, characterized by the government of Porfirio Diaz, which was only interrupted between 1880 and 1884 with the presidential term of Manuel Gonzalez.
