  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR LIVE FIRE TRAINING
  • TERMINAL PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE The student shall be able to manage a structural live fire evolution utilizing the Incident Management System to aid them with the management of all participants involved in the evolution.
  • ENABLING OBJECTIVES
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Incident Commander.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Incident Safety Officer.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Operations Section Officer.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Logistics Section Officer.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Exterior Division Officer.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Interior Division Officer.
    • Define and demonstrate the role of the Student Group Leader.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The Incident Commander is ultimately responsible for the overall management of the training evolutions.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INCIDENT COMMANDER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Initiates safety briefing
    • Ensures training action plan is followed
    • Coordinates all safety activities
    • Requests additional resources and releases resources as needed
    • Authorizes all press releases
    • Ensures all documentation is completed
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The Incident Safety Officer (ISO) shall have the authority, regardless of rank, to intervene & control any aspect of the operations when in his or her judgment, a potential or real danger of an accident or other unsafe condition exists.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INCIDENT SAFETY OFFICER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Develops and reviews training safety plan
    • Familiar with all safety signals
    • Stops immediate safety hazards
    • Aware of all events taking place
    • Monitors condition of participants
    • Inspects all participants PPE
    • Monitors heat/smoke conditions
    • Observes structural integrity
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The IC shall establish an Operations position when the optimal span of control is exceeded or whenever he/she feels that this position is necessary.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OPERATIONS SECTION OFFICER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Carries out training action plan
    • Ensures safety of division officers/students assigned to area
    • Reports directly
      • to the IC
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM The IC may establish a Logistics Section Officer’s position to help ensure that logistical needs are met throughout the training exercise.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM LOGISTICS SECTION OFFICER’S RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Ensures all logistical needs are met
    • Ensures rehab is set up & adequately supplied
    • Directs all facility setup
    • Ensures availability of spare equipment
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Exterior Division Supervisor should be an experienced Structure Fire Control Instructor.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM EXTERIOR DIVISION SUPERVISOR
    • Supervises all activities related to exterior operations
    • Maintains communication with Operations & reports significant events
    • Ensures safety of members in Exterior section
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
      • The Interior Division Supervisor shall be present prior to fire ignition.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INTERIOR DIVISION SUPERVISOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Ensures safety of all members operating inside building
    • Monitors building interior conditions for signs of deterioration
    • Passes information to incoming Interior Division Supervisor
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Student Group Leaders are assigned by the IC to supervise, teach & lead groups of students during each training evolution.
  • INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM STUDENT GROUP LEADERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Keep group together
    • Lead students through evolutions
    • Teach students proper water application techniques
    • Direct students in moving hose

  • ENABLING OBJECTIVE REVIEW

    • No one shall serve in multiple roles with-in the IMS system
    • The SFCI shall be familiar and understand the NIMS system for incident management
