How does your media product represent particular social groups
RepresentationOwen is represented as a hard-worker who clearly is work orientated. In ourfootage we see Owen leaving work at a late time and also when he arriveshome we seem him sorting through work in the car boot.Shaun is seen as a slacker but knows that he has to work in order to live thelife he wants, we seen him in SOTD get ready for work and while he is there hetakes charge of a group of workers and tell them what to do.
AppearanceHere we can see Owen wearing the traditional-type of work outfit of a shirt, tieand sensible trouser, this links in with his representation of him as a hardworker. We can also see Shaun in the same sort of clothing (being the shirt andtie) this is a key similarity we have mimic because it can act as a comic effect assmartly dressed people do not fit in with a biohazard outbreak. The audience canlink this with the representation of power and the ability to look up to bothcharacters.
RoleThe similarity is very strong between them because they both take on the role ofthe main hero of the film. The opening follows Owen more than the character ofRichard which mirrors Shaun of the Dead with the camera work more on theside of Shaun and identifying him as the main character. Both Characters aresurrounded by other supporting main characters, eg Owen has Richard which isequal to Shaun and Ed/ Liz. The audience finds it easier to identify one maincharacter and our products techniques help highlight this.
