  1.
  2. U.S. President Barack Obama (C) and France's President Nicolas Sarkozy (R) take their places with junior G8 delegates for a family photo at the G8 summit in L'Aquila, Italy, July 9, 2009. Leaders of the Group of Eight major industrial nations and the main developing economies are meeting in the central Italian city of L'Aquila until Friday to discuss issues ranging from global economic stimulus to climate change and oil prices.
  3. If mom can't pay, adult child must                                                   This one's going to blow baby boomers' minds. It concerns a little-known law dating to Elizabethan England suddenly being enforced with gusto in Pennsylvania. The law can force adult children to pay their parents' health-care costs. If Mom and Pop can't pay, you pay. If they have the money but refuse to pay, you pay. If you don't, watch your credit rating sink under the weight of a legal judgment that will haunt you for life. It happened to Don Grant. It can happen to you.
  4. World’s Fastest Remote-Control Car July 9, 2009   “ After a motorcycle crash, Nic Case found a safer, but still thrilling, hobby: building radio-controlled cars. At 161 mph, his latest just smashed the world record . The 46-year-old eked out extra mph any way he could, including adding an 11-horsepower R/C motor and a 12-cell battery pack normally used in hobby airplanes. He made sure his handcrafted carbon-fiber chassis would generate enough aerodynamic downforce to keep the vehicle on the track, and he designed an all-wheel-drive system to further increase traction. He also used a high-frequency receiver to ensure that he never loses control of the car.” w/ photos
  5. Afghanistan revises 'marital rape' law Associated Press July 10, 2009 KABUL - -- Afghanistan's government has revised a law that stirred an international outcry because it essentially legalized marital rape, officials said Thursday. The new version no longer requires a woman submit to sex with her husband, only that she do certain housework. The changes, which parliament is expected to approve, likely reflect a calculation by President Hamid Karzai that his reputation as a reformer is more important than support from conservative Shiites who favored the original bill. Presidential spokesman Humayun Hamidzada said the revisions show that Karzai has fulfilled a pledge made in April to expunge the offensive parts of the law, which applies only to minority Shiite Muslims. Women's rights activists welcomed the new draft, but many said little will change in day-to-day life. Karzai signed the original law in March but quickly suspended enforcement after widespread criticism of the legislation.
  6. Saudi family sues genie, alleges harassment July 13, 2009 -- Updated 0559 GMT (1359 HKT)   (CNN) -- A family in Saudi Arabia has taken a genie to court, alleging theft and harassment, according to local media. The lawsuit filed in Shariah court accuses the genie of leaving them threatening voicemails, stealing their cell phones and hurling rocks at them when they leave their house at night, said Al-Watan newspaper. An investigation was under way, local court officials said. "We have to verify the truthfulness of this case despite the difficulty of doing so," Sheikh Amr Al Salmi, the head of the court, told Al-Watan. "What makes this case and complaint more interesting is that it wasn't filed by just one person. Every member of the family is part of this case." The family, which has lived in the same house near the holy city of Medina for 15 years, said it became aware of the spirit in the past two years. "We began hearing strange noises," the head of the family, who requested anonymity, told Al-Watan. "In the beginning, we didn't take it seriously, but after that, stranger things started happening and the children got really scared when the genie began throwing stones." A local charity has moved the family to a temporary residence while a court investigates, the newspaper said. In Islamic cultures, a belief in genies, or jinns, is common. Genies not only appear in pre-Islamic fiction such as "Arabian Nights," but are also mentioned in the Quran. Many Saudis believe invisible genies live among them and are capable of demonic possession and revenge.
  7. Ozzy Osbourne's Dog Killed By A Coyote While He Watched Michael Jackson Memorial 2009-07-09 - - AHN Los Angeles, CA (AHN) -- Ozzy Osbourne's dog has been killed and eaten by a coyote. The 60-year-old rocker is "devastated" his beloved pet - a Pomeranian named Little Bit - was attacked by the wild animal at their Los Angeles mansion on Tuesday, while Ozzy and his wife Sharon watched Michael Jackson's memorial on TV. Daughter Kelly wrote on her Twitter account: "My dad's dog Little Bit was eaten by a coyete last night in L.A. and he is devastated. She was his other women (sic)!" The couple were so engrossed in the lengthy ceremony - which included performances by Stevie Wonder and Mariah Carey - they couldn't hear the pooch's barks for help. Friends of the veteran Black Sabbath singer have joked the attack was revenge for Ozzy's mistreatment of animals in his younger days. The wild rocker infamously once bit the head off a dove and chewed off the head of a bat thrown to him while he was performing on stage. One pal said: "Maybe the coyote was friends with the dove's family? So many people are linked in Hollywood. Whatever the case it's still Ozzy two, animal kingdom one!“ Little Bit had been with the couple since she was a puppy, when they rescued her from mistreatment at a puppy ranch. Ozzy recently claimed he and Sharon have 18 dogs, all of which have been rescued from the local stray dog shelter. He said: "We get them from the pound now. When I get home it's like I've got four new dogs." Sharon added: "Word's got out in Los Angeles, 'Anybody who finds a stray dog, call the Osbournes, they'll take it!"
  8. The Snake Twins July 10, 2009   “ An astonished mother has told how she gave birth to conjoined twins despite being told by medics she was expecting two normal babies . Scans and ultrasound tests had failed to pick up that the babies were joined at the waist, forming one long body with a head at each end. Doctors in Xiaogan, eastern China, have so far been unable to say even what sex the tots are as they have been born without any external sexual organs. The siblings – dubbed the snake twins in local media – were born at Daoqiao Township Hospital on June 19 with a combined weight of 13lbs 2oz.” w/ photos
  9. WHY TOO MUCH CLEAVAGE IS BAD FOR YOUR CAREER Friday July 10,2009 WOMEN are showing more cleavage at work. They have stopped power-dressing like men and are instead opting for tighter clothes with plunging necklines, according to experts. Yet such a show of flesh may end up having the opposite effect to the one intended – putting off male colleagues and even harming a woman’s career prospects. A study into “breast habits” by experts in the US found many working women are swapping their power-suits for more feminine, form-fitting clothes, such as scoop-neck tops and V-neck jumpers teamed with skirts. The study was commissioned by American author Elisabeth Squires, who is nicknamed “The Boob Lady” on US television. Squires, who has undergone breast uplift surgery, has written about breasts for the past 20 years. “Breasts are getting bigger but clothes seem to be getting smaller, especially in the workplace,” said the author of Boobs: A Guide To Your Girls. “A layered style of tight shirts seems to be a major fashion trend fuelled by a look that is very popular in European offices. “But what looks great on a 20-something female can look ridiculous on a 40-year-old.” Squires’s research team found that displaying too much flesh in the office can be distracting and even damage a woman’s career. Men who took part in the study were shown photographs of women in a generic workplace in various outfits and with different bra sizes. When asked which of the women looked the most professional and personable, most men picked out “discreetly dressed” women with “medium-sized breasts”.

  11. Risky sexual behavior of Tijuana sex workers heightens risk of HIV transmission   Friday, July 10, 2009 A study by a bi-national team of global health researchers at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, examining HIV infection among male clients of female sex workers in Tijuana, has found that over half of male clients had recently had unprotected sex. They also reported a high prevalence of drug use. "Targeted intervention among male clients is necessary to prevent the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections – intervention that doesn't solely place the onus on female sex workers," said lead author Thomas L. Patterson, of UC San Diego's Department of Psychiatry and the Veterans Administration Health Care System, San Diego. Tijuana, located in Baja California, directly across the border with San Diego, has a thriving sex industry and is a popular destination for U.S. and foreign sex tourists. While the city's health service does license female sex workers, on condition that they are regularly tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STIs), only about half of them are indeed licensed. In addition, Baja California has the second highest cumulative AIDS incidence of any Mexican state and, in 2006, the HIV prevalence among female sex workers in Tijuana was six percent. It has been estimated that as many as one in 112 persons aged 15-49 living in Tijuana is HIV-infected. "Male clients of female sex workers in the San Diego-Tijuana border region act as a bridge that can potentially transmit HIV and other STIs to sex partners, including their wives," said co-author Manual Gallardo, M.D, Patronato Pro-COMUSIDA in Tijuana. "However, given that only 59% of clients reported regularly using condoms with a female sex worker, there appears to be some level of complacency that urgently needs to be addressed."   Lab Spaces
  12. Man freed thanks to penis lizard tattoo July 10, 2009 11:11 AM      A man who appeared in court accused of flashing his penis at a female train guard has walked free, thanks to a tattoo on his manhood. Hartlepool magistrates court had been told how 28-year-old Barry Kenny had drunkenly displayed his willy during a train journey from Newcastle to Hartlepool. But the woman had not mentioned any "distinguising marks" on the penis and Barry has a two inch long lizard tattoo running along his penis. As a result his solicitor was able to get the charges dropped, but only after Barry offered to show his willy to magistrates. Before being reminded he was under oath Barry had wanted to claim the tattoo was seven inches long. Hartlepool Magistrates Court

  14. Subdermal Implant Electric Watch Tattoo: Internal Geekery   July 9, 2009 We thought that the wristwatch piercing was pretty damn intense, but anything implanted completely under your skin has got to win in the extreme category. The Subdermal Implant Watch Tattoo, also called an “electric tattoo” is a special LED screen which is implanted under your skin. Powered by your own kinetic energy , the electric tattoo watch illuminates when you turn your wrist towards your face. And since it’s powered by your own body movements, no batteries are necessary.

  19. Court tells town to pay for Swede's Viagra  July 11, 2009 MAJORNA, Sweden , July 11 (UPI) -- Local authorities in Majorna, Sweden, must subsidize a 30-year-old impotent man's Viagra prescription , a court ruled. The County Administrative Court ruled in favor of the man, who argued having sex is essential to a reasonable quality of life, The Local reported Saturday. An assistance program in Majorna had denied the man's original request because Viagra , a drug used to treat erectile disfunction, was not included on a list of subsidized medicines. The court left open the issue of how much Viagra the man should receive, said Henrietta Nyberg, a spokeswoman for the assistance program. "This is clearly difficult to assess. How often should someone have Viagra? Is it once a week? Does that amount to a reasonable quality of life?" Nyberg asked. UPI
  20. Kiwi opens brothel to fund campaign Sunday Jul 12, 2009 A New Zealand taekwondo athlete has opened a brothel to help fund his bid to compete at the 2012 London Olympics, local media reported Sunday. Logan Campbell, 23, told the Sunday Star-Times newspaper he hoped his Auckland "gentleman's club," which provided escort services, would help him raise about $300,000 toward his London Games campaign. Campbell, who finished in the top 16 in the featherweight division at last year's Beijing Olympics, said he spent around $150,000 competing in international events leading up to the games. Most of the money had been provided by his parents, he said. His father, Max, an auctioneer, had worked two jobs to support his son's Olympic quest. Campbell told the newspaper his desire to avoid being a burden on his parents led him to open the brothel with business partner Hugo Phillips, 20. He said he had introduced several of his female employees to his mother who "realized they were just normal people supporting kids and stuff." Taekwondo New Zealand funding manager John Schofield said the governing body of the sport in the country would have to consider whether Campbell was suitable for international selection. "Selection takes into account not just performance but also the athlete's ability to serve as an example to the youth of the country," Schofield said. - AP
  21. 400 Million-Year-Old Male Sex Member ID'd ABC Science Online     July 14, 2009 -- Scientists have confirmed the oldest penis-like structure in an ancient fish specimen. The discovery of the 400 million-year-old reproductive organ is one of the earliest examples of internal fertilization in vertebrate animals. Understanding the anatomy of these ancient fish could reveal further details in the evolution of vertebrates -- including humans. The research is published in today's advanced online ahead of print edition of Nature. Earlier this year the team, led by Australian palaeontologist Dr John Long, predicted some ancient fish from the Devonian era, had an attachment to their pelvic bone, which were used by males to fertilize females. Long, of Museum Victoria, said "when we announced we'd found some structures in the pelvic fin that suggested copulation, we hadn't found the business end of how they were doing it." Now the team have identified a long clasper, made entirely of bone, on another fish specimen. Long said claspers were used by the ancient fish, an extinct class of armored fish called placoderms, to grip inside the female while they were mating. "It's a pretty big find because placaderms were the dominant fish for 70 million years, but we knew nothing about their reproduction," said Long. He said their work earlier this year suggests the reproductive structure in the dominant group of placoderms, called arthrodires, was similar to present-day sharks. "Now we've actually found it, a specimen with an undoubted clasper with a knobbly end."
  22. Sheriff: Nude Man Assaults Roommate, Landlord Stun Gun Used To Subdue Prunedale Man  July 14, 2009 PRUNEDALE, Calif. -- A stun gun had to be used to subdue a man arrested Monday on suspicion of chasing his landlord around while nude and demanding oral sex from her, sheriff's officials said. Jonathan Lowell, 49, was found to be under the influence of methamphetamine when deputies arrived at a home in the 17700 block of Vierra Canyon Road. Lowell, of Prunedale, is accused of assaulting his roommate and then chasing his landlord around the home, while nude, and demanding oral sex from her, deputies said. While Lowell was under arrest in the backseat of a patrol car, deputies said, he became combative and damaged a rear-door window. Officers then used a stun gun to prevent Lowell from further injuring himself, sheriff's officials said. Lowell was taken to Natividad Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries. Lowell was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
  23. He's A Porn Loser Cops: Woman stabbed "cheater" boyfriend after catching him wanking JULY 15--Meet Rachel Ferrara. When the Wisconsin woman, 23, arrived home from work yesterday afternoon, she discovered her boyfriend "watching pornography on the TV and masturbating," according to a La Crosse Police Department report . Chagrined, Ferrara argued with Christopher Strabley, 24, called him a "fucking cheater," and kicked him in the groin. Ferrara then allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Strabley in the abdomen. Strabley told cops that she then told him, "You deserve it," while continuing to slash away (Ferrara eventually escaped and drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated and released). When confronted by police, Ferrara told an officer, "I think I hurt him bad." Ferrara, who was charged with felony reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct, was booked into the La Crosse County jail, where she posed for the above mug shot.
  24. Wednesday, July 15, 2009 Man Breaks Into Home to Have Sex With Couple's Dog; Their MALE Dog The Dumbass is strong in this one. And he just is really, really, really messed up to even consider this a normal thing to do. Christopher Bagwell, 26, of Mannington, broke into a home on Wiley Street in Farmington on July 8 while the homeowner was at work, according to a friend of the homeowner. The friend had stopped to drop off some of the owner's possessions. She said she looked into the house and saw Bagwell having sex with the homeowner's dog, a male Australian shepherd, border collie mix, according to the complaint. "His pants were down around his ankles and the dog was making an awful sound," according to the complaint. The woman said she called Bagwell a "sick bastard" and he let go of the dog, according to the complaint. "The dog jumped down off the chair and ran over towards the love seat," according to the complaint. "At that time Chris started towards her, pulling his pants up." Even in West Virginia this is considered wrong. He should have at least ASKED the family for permission to date the dog before he went that far. Also, according to WV law, "ruff" means "ruff" regardless whether you think it means "yes." Above… the mug shot of one Christopher Bagwell.
