    4. More Than A Dozen Earthquakes Shake Yellowstone YELLOWSTONE NAT'L PARK - Sixteen small earthquakes -- with magnitudes up to 2.7 -- shook Yellowstone National Park last week, around the edge of a volcano that has not erupted in more than 70,000 years. The tremors shook the park's Pitchstone Plateau, and were detected by seismographs operated by the University of Utah. The earthquakes began on April 30, just before midnight. The largest occurred at 3:09 a.m. Tuesday and the quakes continued until Wednesday, according to Bob Smith, a University of Utah professor. "I was up working and watching these, saying 'Whoa, what does this all mean?"' he said. "It kept my interest quite high." The quakes occurred on the southern edge of a volcano caldera at the center of Yellowstone. The volcano last erupted 70,000 years ago and some experts believe it has the potential to erupt again. If that happened, a large portion of the western United States could be affected. Smith said earthquake swarms are common in Yellowstone. As many as 70 swarms of small earthquakes have occurred in the region between 1983 and 2006. Probably no one felt the most recent quakes, Smith said.

    6. About 20,000 marchers smoke up for freer pot laws toronto.ctv.ca Some 20,000 marijuana advocates blew smoke on the lawn of Queen's Park and puffed away as they marched the streets of Toronto on Saturday. The participants, taking part in the ninth annual Global Marijuana March being held in 232 cities, rallied to promote the legalization of pot in Canada. Police watched the peaceful event, whose parade marshal was Marc Emery, the British Columbia resident nicknamed Canada's "Prince of Pot." "It's incredible that 20,000 people are meeting only 100 yards from the legislature to demand that marijuana be legalized, to celebrate our culture and to defy the law with almost open sanction of the entire City of Toronto," he said. Tapiro said the movement for freer marijuana laws has support in high places. Organizers said the annual event in Canada continues to grow because the majority of Canadians believe pot laws should be relaxed.
    7. Jerry Garcia's guitars spur Grateful Dead auction Wed May 9, 8:19 AM ET SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Forty years after the Summer of Love celebrated the free-living ways of the 1960s counterculture, bidders paid more than $1.1 million at auction Tuesday for Grateful Dead memorabilia. A cream-colored 1975 Travis Bean electric guitar belonging to the band's legendary, late lead guitar player, Jerry Garcia, brought in $312,000 in a brisk sale, auction house said. Enthusiasts also bid $102,000 for an acoustic guitar and $39,000 for a Gibson electric guitar played by Garcia. One of his leather guitar straps sold for $20,400, or four times its initial asking price, and his flight case filled with guitar picks, strings and other accessories sold for $16,800.
    8. This weeks sign the world is ending…….. Oral sex can cause throat cancer   22:00 09 May 2007 NewScientist.com news service People who have had more than five oral-sex partners in their lifetime are 250% more likely to have throat cancer than those who do not have oral sex, a new study suggests. The researchers believe this is because oral sex may transmit human papillomavirus (HPV), the virus implicated in the majority of cervical cancers. The new findings should encourage people to consistently use condoms during oral sex as this could protect against HPV, the team says. Other experts say that the results provide more reason for men to receive the new HPV vaccine.
