  2. And so it begins……………..     It has already started... Ammunition Accountability Legislation Remember how Obama said that he wasn't going to take your guns?  Well, it seems that his allies in the anti-gun world have no problem with taking your ammo! The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana ) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers.  Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.  Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011.  (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more!   If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun!   This legislation is currently pending in 18 states:  Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York,  Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington.   Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!!   To find more about the anti-gun group that is sponsoring this legislation and the specific legislation for each state, go to:                 http://ammunitionaccountability.org/Legislation.htm Ammunition Accountability Saving lives
  3. Brazilian Miss World contestant Mariana Bridi da Costa ………loses hands, feet to infection Article from: Agence France-Presse   January 22, 2009 06:11am A 20-YEAR-OLD model who was a finalist to represent Brazil in the Miss World contest has had her hands and feet amputated after contracting a severe urinary infection, media reports said today. Mariana Bridi da Costa was sedated in a hospital in Serra, in the southeastern state of Espirito Santo, and on artificial respiration following the procedures, according to several newspapers. Bridi was diagnosed with a infection by the Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacterium, which can often prove fatal. Septicemia set in in her limbs, cutting off circulation and forcing doctors to amputate. Her boyfriend, Thiago Simoes, told the G1 news website that Bridi fell ill on December 30, but was initially misdiagnosed with kidney stones. The infection quickly spread, causing her to go back to hospital for tests that revealed her condition. Surgeons had to act to remove her damaged hands and feet. Her father, Agnaldo da Costa, told the Folha de S Paulo newspaper that "the concern is over her life". Bridi twice made it into the national finals for the Miss World contest, and last year travelled to China to participate in the Miss Bikini International pageant, G1 said.
  4. Remote control toy helicopter 'used to fly drugs into prison' By Daily Mail Reporter January 2009 A toy helicopter is believed to have been used in an attempt to smuggle drugs into a prison. Guards at Elmley Prison in Sheerness, Kent, spotted the remote control miniature aircraft flying over the walls of the jail and heading for the accommodation blocks one night after it was picked up by CCTV cameras. It had a small load beneath the fuselage, thought to contain drugs. The toy or its cargo was not found. Night flight: A toy helicopter was spotted flying over the walls of a jail with its fuselage thought to contain drugs However, staff could not find any trace of either the helicopter or the package which it appeared to be carrying underneath it when they searched the Category C jail. 'Using a mini-helicopter to get contraband into jails is unprecedented. When officers spotted it they nearly fell off their chairs', a prison source told the Sun. 'It could have been drugs or a mobile phone in the package. It is possible it was a dummy run.' Target: The remote control toy helicopter was spotted heading for the accommodation blocks at Elmley Prison The Prison Service confirmed the incident took place.
  5. 'There's nothing more natural than a woman in the shower': The minister who posted a naked picture of herself on Facebook   Mail Foreign Service 16th January 2009 Natural woman: Daisy Tourne posted a nude picture on Facebook. Fellow politicians were not amused A government minister has sparked a furious row after posting a naked picture of herself on Facebook. Daisy Tourne, Uruguay's interior minister, posted the snapshot above the caption 'there's nothing more natural than a woman in the shower.' Scandalised opposition leaders have branded her an exhibitionist and said her actions were unacceptable, particularly as she had responsibility for the police. 'I think it's in very bad taste that the minister exposes herself so intimately,' former Vice President Luis Hierro Lopez told newspaper El Pais. 'Ministers have to be more austere, modest - above all the Minister of the Interior.' Lawmaker Jose Amorin called the photo 'frivolous.' Tourne, 57, responded on her page on the popular social networking site, saying the photo was not made available publicly or intended to be erotic. She said it was taken in a shower used to rinse off sand after a visit to the beach, according to El Pais which reproduced the picture showing only Tourne's hands and laughing face beneath running water. The newspaper reported that ruling party lawmaker Victor Semproni backed Tourne, commenting below the picture: 'I'm thinking about taking a photo of myself in the shower, but a full body shot.' Facebook has attracted more than 140 million users worldwide since it began in 2004.
  6. IHOP Out Of My Pants Wisconsin perp popped after half-naked parade in pancake palace JANUARY 15- -Meet Consuelo Guenther. The 19-year-old was arrested early Sunday morning after she allegedly got liquored up and ran pantsless through an International House of Pancakes in Wisconsin. IHOP workers told cops that Guenther, yelling unintelligibly, ran through the pancake joint with her pants at her knees, according to a Marathon County Sheriff's Department report . Responding a call about the half-naked romp, a deputy found an intoxicated Guenther sitting in a running car in the IHOP parking lot. Despite the extreme cold, Guenther was not wearing a coat, shoes, or socks. After failing a series of field sobriety tests, she was charged with drunk driving, disorderly conduct, and criminal damage to private property.
  7. Judge dismisses spring break smut suit   The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday, January 15, 2009 When Julie Amanda Tilton went to Daytona Beach during spring break, she competed in a number of risque contests at a local motel before hundreds of observers, some taking photos. The Florida woman eventually filed a federal lawsuit after learning that footage of the contests had been posted on the Internet. But on Thursday, the federal appeals court in Atlanta ruled against Tilton, effectively ending her suit seeking damages from the hotel, the owner of a video company and others. Tilton, at the time a 17-year-old high school student, went to the Desert Inn Resort Motel in April 2001 after hearing about the contests. She competed in two wet T-shirt contests, a “banana sucking contest” and a “sexual positions contest.” The owner of a video production company also heard an advertisement about the wet T-shirt contest. He went to the event, took photos and posted those, along with some video footage of the event, on his Web site. Tilton’s lawsuit claimed Deslin Hotels, which owns the Desert Inn, had induced her to engage in “sexually explicit conduct” and created an atmosphere it knew would draw others to take pictures of it. Judge Bill Pryor, writing for a unanimous three-judge panel of the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, said Tilton’s suit failed because she could not produce actual proof she engaged in such conduct. Under the law, Pryor wrote, “sexually explicit conduct” involves intercourse, other specific sexual acts or lascivious exposure of the pubic area. Tilton’s conduct did not create the impression of an actual sex act and her pubic area was covered, Pryor wrote. As for the resort creating an environment conducive to photos being taken of sexually explicit conduct, her suit fails on that ground as well because she produced no evidence of it, Pryor wrote. Tilton also sued Chad Ciani, owner of the video production company, on grounds he put photos of her on his Web site when she was a minor. But Tilton could not prove that Ciani, who removed the photos after Tilton lodged a protest, knew she was a minor when he took the pictures, Pryor wrote.
  8. Zimbabwe rolls out Z$100tr note     Zimbabwe is introducing a Z$100 trillion note, currently worth about US$30 (£20), state media reports. Other notes in trillion-dollar denominations of 10, 20 and 50 are also being released to help Zimbabweans cope with hyperinflation. However, the dollarisation of the economy means that few products are available in the local currency. On Thursday, the opposition leader said he was still committed to power-sharing intended to rescue the failing economy. Since September, when the deal was signed, talks have stalled over who should control key ministries. Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader Morgan Tsvangirai said he was due to hold talks with President Robert Mugabe "within this coming week" to try to resolve the political crisis. He described Mr Mugabe as "part of the problem but also part of the solution". The latest annual figure for inflation, estimated in July last year, was 231m% - the world's highest.
  9. 2,000 HP Outboard Inflatable ...   Here's the latest drug runner toy from Europe ...   This thing belts across the English channel 3 times per week and was just a blur on the radar of the British Coast Guard.   They were so astonished by the speed of the unknown craft, they brought in a special high speed helicopter to chase it. Drugs were found on board. Of course, you'd have to be on drugs to put the throttle down on this thing.
  10. Venezuela's Chavez says Obama has "stench" of Bush Sat Jan 17, 2009 4:44pm EST   CAMPO CARABOBO, Venezuela (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said on Saturday Barack Obama had the "stench" of his predecessor as U.S. president and was at risk of being killed if he tries to change the American "empire." Most world leaders expect a new era of U.S. foreign relations when Obama, a Democrat, is sworn in as president on Tuesday after Republican George W. Bush's eight years in the White House. But Chavez said frayed ties with Washington were unlikely to improve despite the departure of Bush, who the Venezuelan leader has often called the "devil." "I hope I am wrong, but I believe Obama brings the same stench, to not say another word," Chavez said at a political rally on a historic Venezuelan battlefield. "If Obama as president of the United States does not obey the orders of the empire, they will kill him, like they killed Kennedy, like they killed Martin Luther King, or Lincoln, who freed the blacks and paid with his life." Obama, who will be the first black president in U.S. history, was given Secret Service protection on the campaign trail earlier than is customary for candidates and security for Tuesday's inauguration is extremely tight. Venezuela is a leading supplier of oil to the United States and the two countries once enjoyed close ties. Relations deteriorated after Chavez first won election in 1998 as he took on U.S. companies as part of his socialist agenda of nationalization of various industries and accused Washington of backing a brief coup against him. Last year, he expelled the U.S. ambassador from Venezuela. Chavez's foreign policy is based on countering U.S. global influence and promoting countries like Russia and China as world leaders. He has close ties to U.S. foes Cuba and Iran. Until recently, Chavez had said he hoped relations with Washington could improve. But in the last few days, he has picked up on comments he attributes to Obama accusing him of obstructing progress in Latin America and exporting terrorism.

Check out the Cabestan Winch Tourbillion Vertical Watch, a timepiece so stunning that you'll forget that it actually tells the time. It has 1,352 components all working together, driven by a 450 link chain and nickel silver drums. How's it work? You got me. Via magic, I guess. But it sure looks neat, eh? This insane gizmo will set you back a whopping $275,000, plus $400,000 extra if you want it all blinged up with diamonds and platinum.
  13. Denmark's Zenvo Automotive unveiled a new super expensive car Zenvo ST1. The car is priced at $3 million. The company will assemble only 15 of such cars, but will be ready to make more upon demand. The car will become available in the spring of 2009.
  14. $93 million spent on endangered tortoise Jan. 20, 2009 Associated Press SALT LAKE CITY - Leathery, shy and a bit world-weary, the Mojave desert tortoise doesn't come across as a high-roller. But among land-going critters on the endangered species list, it's among the top recipients of money spent by state and federal agencies trying to keep it from the brink of extinction, according to an Associated Press analysis of the last 11 years of available data. From 1996 to 2006, more than $93 million was spent on managing the long-lived reptile, records show. That's more than was spent on other species such as the grizzly bear, gray wolf or bald eagle. Not bad for a pokey desert dweller that spends most of its time in underground burrows in parts of Utah, California, Arizona and Nevada.
  15. Germany bans drug "Spice" Germany's health minister says the government has banned the production, sale or possession of a synthetic marijuana-like drug known as "Spice." BERLIN — Germany's health minister says the government has banned the production, sale or possession of a synthetic marijuana-like drug known as "Spice." Health Minister Ulla Schmidt says Spice must "quickly be taken out of circulation." Wednesday's ban takes effect Thursday and comes weeks after German health officials found the drug contained a synthetic ingredient similar to marijuana. Germany is the fourth nation to ban the substance, marketed as an herbal room-freshener, after Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Officials say Spice is typically rolled into cigarettes and smoked. It is usually sold in 3-gram packages for around euro30 ($39).   The Seattle Times
  16. The 2.5lb kidney stone the size of a coconut surgeons removed from a man's stomach Mail Online 20th January 2009 The largest kidney stones most doctors ever get to see is the size of a golf ball. So surgeons in Hungary were taken aback when they removed a stone the size of a coconut from a man earlier today. Sandor Sarkadi underwent an abdominal operation in Debrecen, 150 miles east of Budapest, after doctors discovered he had a kidney stone inside him that was 17 centimetres in diameter. Mr Sardaki was rushed into an operation theatre in the Kenez Gyula Hospital when an X-ray revealed he was carrying around the gigantic lump. The delicate procedure to remove the stone, which weighed a staggering 2.48lbs, passed without incident. Kidney stones vary in size. They can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball, which makes Mr Sarkadi's stone all the more remarkable. Most stones pass through the body by themselves within hours or a few days. Doctors advise patients to drink a lot of fluids to help this process, and sometimes recommend a special diet.
  17. 2009-01-15 – Reporter Spider-Man Creator, Marvel Comics To Unveil World's First Gay Superhero Los Angeles, CA (AHN) -- Spider-Man creator Stan Lee is preparing to unveil the world's first gay superhero in an hour-long TV drama being filmed in the U.S. The 86-year-old former Marvel Comics boss and creator of the Hulk and the X-Men is said to be working on a project about high school basketball star Thom Creed, who hides his developing superpowers along with his sexuality. Lee developed the idea of a gay character from the award-winning novel Hero by Perry Moore. TV executives said if the show is a hit, it will likely cross over to the UK. "It was only a matter of time before we had our first gay superhero. And if there is one man who can make him a success it is Stan Lee. There's a real buzz among comic book fans," one executive explained.
  18. Eleven-month-old boy accidentally dials 9-1-1 and gets dad arrested January, 20, 2009 WHITE ROCK, B.C. — A B.C. man probably wishes he had given his 11-month-old son a set of keys to play with instead of a phone, after the infant accidentally dialled 9-1-1 and brought police to dad's marijuana grow operation. Mounties say a 9-1-1 call came in from a White Rock, B.C. residence Friday morning but whoever was on the other end of the line hung up. Officers arrived at the residence and after numerous knocks on the door went unanswered, they entered the home. "The gentleman was quite surprised," said White Rock RCMP Const. Janelle Canning. She said the 29-year-old male, startled by the sudden sight of police, insisted he hadn't made the call. When it was suggested a child might have dialled, the father objected and said his son was far too young. That's when police spotted the baby boy, phone in hand. "We saw him playing with the cordless phone and just pressing all the buttons, so evidently he had called 9-1-1," Canning said. With that mystery solved, officers began inspecting the residence and soon discovered a 500-plant marijuana grow operation. The father was arrested and will appear in court in early April on charges of production of a controlled substance and mischief. The boy was removed from the home by the Ministry of Children and Family Development, though he was later released into his mother's custody. The mother does not live in the residence and Canning says she had no idea what was going on at the home.
