2. Mousetrap Patents
James Henry Atkinson invented the mousetrap we
know today (the one on the cover) in 1899 in Great
Britain. Patent #: GB13277.
He later licensed this patent to Proctor Brothers
from Wales.
The name of this product “Little Nipper” was
trademarked in 1909.
This design captures 60% of the market.
The spring speed of the trap is 1/38,000th of a
second and this has yet to be exceeded.
There are over close to 5,000 mousetrap patents
and only 20 of them are being sold as products in
the market. This goes to show that the statement
if you can build a better mousetrap people will
knock down your door is not correct.
I hope you enjoy a sampling of the various ways to
trap mice outlined in this book of mousetrap
patents.
At the end you will find out how you can learn how
to develop and market your inventions.
