Keeping up with the Joneses: Is Blackboard keeping pace with emerging learning technologies?

The past five years has seen competitive growth in technological innovation, with education providers embracing and integrating these technologies in creative and meaningful ways. The eScholars Program at Curtin University is designed to support academic staff to design, implement and evaluate learning activities that require students to engage using innovative communication and collaboration technologies. Commencing in 2010 the Program has enabled 40 individuals or teams to become early adopters of various learning technologies. Pioneer projects focused on staff and student use of video technology, social media, and virtual classrooms. We take a look at the work of these early technology adopters to examine Blackboard Learn's journey in leading and "keeping up with the Joneses". How has Blackboard Learn enhanced and extended its tools and feature set to satisfy the demand for digitally enriched education?
