  • 3. Why mobile?The increase in number ofsmartphones has become visiblein daily life.
  • 4. 1st idea – Roomfinder - orientation• One campus with different levels: street, footpath, stairs …• Buildings with around 7 floors, rooms difficult to find Ruhr-University 20 faculties 5,000 employees > 36,500 students from 130 countries
  • 5. RUBeL: eLearning at Ruhr-University is in charge of the app• Blackboard since 2000, Moodle since 2009• In 2011/12: Bb-Courses : ca. 2.000 Moodle-Courses: ca. 250+ a lot more RUBeL-Team
  • 6. 2nd idea – Look at Blackboard• What you see is what you get: Apps of Stanford and other US universities• Mobile Learn: LMS mobile ready to go• Concept of separation of data and application• Multiple Platforms
