ABOUT ME• Resource Development Director, Archdiocese of Brisbane• Background in Fund Development in USA – Petrus Development – The Citadel Foundation – St. Mary’s Catholic Centre at Texas A&M University – Father Gabriel Richard High School in Michigan – Pope John Paul II Cultural Centre in Washington, D.C
  • 3. A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT• Resource Development department implemented in the Archdiocese of Brisbane – with an expanded scope from the old Fundraising Services• With expanded scope, came new knowledge and leadership
  • 4. RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT TEAM• Mix of existing and new staff• Different levels of expertise• Roles including: – Gifts Managers – Parish Support – Appeals and Communications Manager – Constituent Services Coordinator – Gifts Processors
  • 5. OPPORTUNITIES FOR ARCHDIOCESE• Integrated fundraising strategy• Budgets and Goals• Build on existing development work - more complete fundraising actions• Expand current and prospective donor databases
  • 6. IMPLEMENTING NEW PROCESSES• Existing donor recognition & timeliness• New programs and initiatives – Endowment funds – Memberships• Better record-keeping• New approaches to solicitation and relationship management
  • 7. THE RAISER’S EDGE• St Mary’s Catholic Centre,1996 – Enabled us to for the first time have a consistent methodology for tracking our relationships with donors – Vital to our success in raising $4.9m• The Citadel Foundation, 2002 – Implemented Raiser’s Edge during $100m campaign – Merger of 4 separate database systems, allowing alumni details to be updated centrally• Petrus Development, 2004-2010 – Recommended implementation of Raiser’s Edge to 10+ clients

THE RAISER’S EDGE• Archdiocese had The Raiser’s Edge when I arrived• Health Check completed August 2010• Advantages included: - Data cleansing: clean up of code tables and attributes - Better understanding and use of attributes - Test database implemented• Encouraging use of actions/action tracks and prospect module
