  • 4. Benefits to Going GREEN It boosts operational efficiency It increases customer satisfaction May lower operational and maintenance costs in the long-run Increases employee comfort & productivity Improves indoor/outdoor environmental quality
  • 5. Shippers Warehouse will consider these initiatives in future industrial developments when possible
    • Light colored, reflective roofing on warehouse projects, which:
    • Helps reflect sunlight and reduces the “heat island” effect. Promotes more efficient HVAC usage.
    • Rainwater collection efforts
    • Create system to capture and collect rainwater runoff from the roof.
    • Water can then be used for a variety of purposes, including landscape
    • maintenance or vehicle washing.
    • Consider contracting with some localities to use “Grey water” for landscape
    • upkeep.
    • Using partially treated waste water to feed lawns and shrubbery. This, plus rainwater recovery, can have a noticeable impact on overall water usage.
    • Attempt to use building materials suppliers located within the metropolitan Atlanta area instead of out-of-state suppliers – reduces the amount of mileage trucks need to travel to deliver materials.
    • Focus on materials that provide better climate management within warehouses and Distribution
    • Centers.
    • Installations of ready rooms in packaging operations. See next slides that follow.
