Plant Manager-Operations Manager-Manufacturing Planner-Quality Engineer
Launched and managed three plants for ASC Inc. (Automobile Specialty Company) over
a 9 year period that spanned several states producing several unique specialty vehicles.
(Operations Manager from 1988 to 1994 after 4 years as assembly technician leading to line
supervision and Ops Manager)
• Facilities launched as a Plant Manager in Doraville, Georgia 1997-2002; Moraine, Ohio 2002-
2004; and Normal, Illinois 2004-2005.
• ASC implemented the first video entertainment systems into the GM Mini-Vans produced at the
General Motors Doraville plant with an off-site non-union facility of 200 employees.
• Implemented a Management Operating System using scorecard approach to set goals and
measure the effectiveness of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Morale on daily basis.
• Integrated the UAW workforce during an “in-sourcing” of our non-union production facility into
the GM UAW Doraville plant and did so with no lost production time and a seamless transition.
• Next Plant Manager Position required a launch of a Specialty Vehicle Assembly plant in Huber
Heights, Ohio. 2/10/02 to 3/9/04
• Modified General Motors Moraine, Ohio Chevy Trailblazers with ground effects and door
cladding with special rocker molding design and wide wheel lip moldings.
• Added specialty accessories to the Trailblazers which were then branded as “The NorthFace
Edition” for the Chevy Truck Platform Family.
• This “NorthFace Edition” was a short lived market for GM and project cancelled in early 2004.
• After the Moraine operation I became Plant Manager at the ASC Bloomington/Normal, Illinois
Mitsubishi Motors convertible systems top stack assembly plant between 3/10/04 to 4/28/05
• Managed this tier one non-union plant providing just in time deliveries of top stacks to MMNA.
• ASC facility began production in 1998 delivering convertible top stack assemblies sequenced
into MMNA with zero delivered defects QPPM throughout its tenure in Illinois.
• This ASC Normal plant was consolidated in early 2005 with our Toyota top stack plant in Ky.
• I was offered a severance package in April 2005 and left the Company to work at Mitsubishi.
Due to the Sole owner and CEO of ASC, (Heinz Prechter’s), untimely death by suicide in July of
2001, the Company was later sold to an Investment Firm in 2002. From that point on the direction of
the Company changed and it was obvious that no real new business being actively courted and no
new investments in capital expenditures. This led to the closure of many of the Company’s assets and
plants. In 2006 ASC filed for bankruptcy which, having foreseen this coming, led to my request for
severance after consolidation of my top stack plant in Normal, Illinois with a plant in Kentucky.
