        • The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
      • Outpatient or Inpatient procedure
      • Minimally Invasive
      • Through a small minimally invasive approach we are able to remove all disc herniations
      • Removal of this disc can be 95% effective in eliminating sciatica or leg pain which is being caused by compression of the nerve root.
      • Before entering the disc space Dr Pazmino fashions a tiny window over the lamina
      • The Lamina is a shell of bone which lies over the spinal canal and nerve roots
      • Removing a small sliver of bone from the lamina gives us access to the underlying nerve roots and the herniation which is compressing them.
      • Through the tiny window made in the lamina Dr Pazmino then inserts a tiny nerve probe and retractor
      • Through the same tiny window made in the lamina Dr Pazmino gently retracts the nerve away from the herniated portion of the disc.
      • With a separate instrument called a pituitary Dr Pazmino grabs the herniated disc fragment.
      • Here you can see Dr Pazmino grabbing the herniated disc with the pituitary instrument
      • All fragments of the disc are removed
      • All instruments are removed and the Spinal nerve returns to its normal position.
    3.
      • All our procedures are performed
      • in a minimally invasive manner.
      • All discectomies are performed as a microdiscectomy as opposed to the traditional open discectomy.
      • All patients receive a plastics closure and are followed closely afterwards
      • Thank you for your time.
