  • @DOINAPP My first computer was a Commodore 64! I then used BBC computers at work and in 1994 I bought my IBM PC with Windows on it and it has just never stopped. I don't think age matters and besides you are a genius and inspiration. No apologies for that!!

  • A great analyze! Well, if it is to remember when I accessed first a computer and when I made the first PP, I have to have shame about the age first.... Never is not too late but, ever is best welcome!

    • Using technology in class
    • • Using technology in the classroom has, by now, fallen into a distinctive pattern. For quite some time I was experimenting. I still do try new things and I have blogged about all my discoveries and successes along the way. 3 years of laptops in a classroom , my whiteboard and, more recently, access to tablet options, I really have discovered a pattern which works:
    • • Something to read• Something to watch• Something to do
    • Goals Use technology effectively Decide who determines the use oftechnology in class – students , staff or both Teach to their needs but raise the bar by using our knowledge and skills Increase staff and student flexibility in thinking and use Share knowledge and practice freely
    • The Present Situation Not all my classes have laptops I have access to iPads Network access has been consistent Internet access has become reliable Macbook and iPad connect to whiteboard Half my students have iPhones or iPod Touches We have computer rooms Resource centre has computers
    • Development up to present Development made up to the current situation Important background information Original forecasts which turned out to be wrong Original forecasts which turned out to be true
    • Potential Alternatives Better use of mobile technology Use computer rooms Use tablet technology Issue all students with laptops Make sure my equipment is used to its maximum potential Make good use of a variety of software
    • Potential hurdles Who determines the technology and approach in class? Ensure security Ensure safety Prevent subterfuge Cover costs Prevent excess time investment Establish effective troubleshooting avenues
    • Recommendations Have policies for student use Have policies for staff use Obtain and use feedback regularly Share with others Work collaboratively as a routine Keep costs in front of head Establish clear protocols @sally07 2012
