The work is one of Nexus’ largest ever art commissions and one of three art projects within the £7 million project for the refurbishment of Sunderland Station.
Low-energy LED light units behind each individual screen will be programmed to come on and off in sequence to create the overall effect, with the pattern changing constantly for the time of day and throughout the year.

Sidetrack is a journey along the route of the DLR, the images capturing both the ordinary and the unexpected in views of everyday life, allowing us to enter buildings and landmarks that we may only glimpse from inside the train as we travel
Selected images from the series were developed as posters, appearing on stations and inside trains.
