    THIS PARTNERSHIP OF PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SECTOR ORGANISATIONS, LED BY CWG HAS GONE ON TO HELP THOUSANDS OF LOCAL COMPANIES, THROUGH FACE TO FACE SUPPORT, TO REACH ‘FIT-TO-SUPPLY’ STATUS, IMPROVE THEIR COMPETITIVE EDGE AND ENHANCE THEIR PITCHING AND PRESENTING SKILLS ---- AND THEREFORE BE BETTER PLACED TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPETE FOR CONTRACTS.
    OUR FREE SERVICE ALSO CATERS FOR BUYERS, HELPING THEM TO IDENTIFY SUITABLE LOCAL SUPPLIERS THROUGH WORKING WITH THEM TO UNDERSTAND THEIR PROCUREMENT NEEDS.
    WE ARE NOW ALSO WORKING WITH THE INSTITUTE FOR SUSTAINABILITY ON A PROJECT CALLED FLASH TO HELP BRING BUILDING CLIENTS AND SMES IN THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT SECTOR TO COME TOGETHER ON THE MASSIVE ECO-RETROFIT AGENDA.
  • WE WORK WITH MICRO, SMALL TO MEDIUM ENTERPRISES, SOCIAL ENTERPRISES AND LARGER COMPANIES TO HELP THEM BECOME EITHER FIT TO SUPPLY OR TO INCREASE THEIR COMPETITIVE EDGE.
    I SHOULD ADD THAT WE HAVE NUMEROUS COMPANIES THAT ALREADY FIT THAT BILL AND FOR THEM ITS ABOUT PROVIDING A PLATFORM FROM WHICH TO PRESENT THEMSELVES TO APPROPRIATE BUYERS.
    WE ACTIVELY ENCOURAGE BUYERS TO OPEN UP THEIR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES AND THOSE OF THEIR SUPPLY CHAINS. AT THE SAME TIME WE OFFER SMES ASSISTANCE WITH PITCHING AND PRESENTING THEIR SERVICES AND PRODUCTS TO PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS
    OUR PROACTIVE CALENDAR OF FREE EVENTS AND 1-2-1 SUPPORT COVERS RELEVANT BUSINESS AREAS AND ANTICIPATES BUSINESS NEEDS AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL PROMOTIONAL ASSISTANCE FOR COMPANIES THROUGH REFERRALS, SUPPLIER SHOWCASING, MEET THE BUYERS, NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES AND NEWSLETTER FEATURES.

  • IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE INSTITUTE, ELBP IS TRIALLING A LOCAL AREA NETWORK IN EAST LONDON TO FORM A COLLABORATIVE BUSINESS SUPPORT NETWORK WITH AN EAST LONDON FLASH MEMBERSHIP THAT CAN BENEFIT FREE OF CHARGE FROM INFORMATION ON THE COMPLETE CARBON DOMESTIC RETROFIT PROCESS AND EXPLORE THE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES EMERGING FROM THE LOW CARBON BUILDING AND RETROFIT MARKET.

WHAT IS ELBP? • ELBP was established in 2008 • Based on the success of CWG’s LBLO 1997-2008 • Supported by a partnership of private and public sector organisations led by CWG • Provides local procurement support to buyers and suppliers across the East London Thames Gateway • Works with the Institute for Sustainability on an East London Supply Chain Network pilot as part of the Institute’s FLASH programme.

ELBP MAIN BENEFITS • Access to a matching service that links local buyers with local suppliers • Suppliers can be in a more competitive position to win contracts • Access to Trade and Professional Networks, Flash Innovation and Environmental Improvement Support Service • Buyers can access a diverse pool of quality local SMEs

WHAT IS FLASH? • Facilitation Learning and Sharing • Part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) • Designed to help businesses working in the built environment familiarise themselves and seize the commercial opportunities presented by the growing market for sustainable development and retrofit arising from the huge investment in upgrading current building stock to meet government carbon reduction targets • Provides access to some of the most recent and credible research, analysis and best practice in the field

ELBP AND FLASH • Collaborative business support network - East London Supply Chain Network • Free information on the complete carbon domestic retrofit process • Support to explore the business opportunities emerging from the low carbon building and retrofit market • Brings building clients and SMEs from the built environment together to deliver a localised community retrofit programme

Some of the benefits.. • Workshops and events, including procurement clinics, forums, supplier showcases, networking and meet the buyer events • Networking with built environment sector buyers relevant to the FLASH target audiences e.g. Local Authorities, Arm’s Length Management Organisations (ALMOs) and Registered Social Landlords (RSL’s) • Help with developing sustainable construction methods/materials, product development/refinement • Access to an online portal giving a range of useful information including the Institute’s Building Opportunities for Business Retrofit Guides written by leading industry experts.
