  • 1. Read blogs Read blogs about your topic or cause Find blogs using Google Blog Search, Alltop.com, Technorati, and other blogs’ blog rolls. Read blogs using a feed reader, like Google Reader Set up Google Alerts for keywords related to your topic, or cause.
  • 2. Comment & Participate Set commenting goals for yourself. Share your knowledge in comments; don’t promote yourself. Join social networks related to your cause (e.g. Change.org, Care2, Facebook pages, Twitter hashtags) Make it easy for people to comment on your blog. Moderation is OK, registration, not so much.
  • 3. Find Your Purpose Why do you want to blog? What does success look like to you?
  • 4. Create Great Content Use multimedia Invite guest posts Write reviews Write how-to’s Do a news round-up Make lists Ask questions Do interviews Share an opinion Use smart titles Leave white space Be creative!

  • 7. Make it easy to share Addthis.com, Sharethis.com, Tweetmeme.com, Share on Facebook button
  • 8. Be generous. Collaborate Link to other bloggers Have a blog roll Invite guest posters Participate in carnivals & memes Contribute to group blogs
