Every year EDAS hold an annual summit for its members to discuss topical economic development issues.

In 2012 the summit , held in Edinburgh's City Chambers, discussed a range of issues with an expert panel featuring Professor David Bell (Stirling University) and Professor Drew Scott (Edinburgh University) including:

- The viability of an independent Scottish economy;
- Youth unemployment;
- Trade and investment;
- Leadership and entrepreneurship;
- Scotland’s business operating environment
