Metadata is the gateway to Springer content
• Metadata allows our content to be found.
• Our metadata is free of charge and open for every kind of non commercial (re)usage.
• The more exposed our metadata is, the more usage of our content.

Discovery Services – What Springer Sends
We send full text XML in Springer’s A++ XML of our content to all of the Discovery
Services on a monthly basis.
The Discovery Services use this for Indexing and loading chapter/article level
bibliographic information.

Link Resolvers
What Springer data is the Link Resolver providing?
• Open URL and DOI URL for title level eBooks & Journals
• Collection Sets and Consortia-specific lists
The majority of our Link Resolver business is via Serial Solutions and SFX

SpringerLink KBART Title Portal at http://link.springer.com/lists
• shows all sellable packages based on the KBART Phase II Recommendations
MARC Downloader Tool at www.springer.com/marc
• Provides our MARC records and eBooks title lists for download

Consortia Title Lists
• Link resolvers are updated when a new consortium license and title list is created,
usually by April as most invoicing is then complete and title lists finalized.
• Lists can be sent to the link resolvers at any time, if necessary.

• Focus on E-journals and eBooks, also on effect of commercial discovery
services
•Title keywords, authors, abstract keywords, author-supplied index keywords,
chapter titles, full text unique phrases, image descriptions
• Identify where else Springer content is mentioned, e.g. database listings, lib
guides, special promotions
• Present data on referrals to SpringerLink from library finding tools. Present
results in a non-judgmental way
