• Keeps all of the elements of an application
Including the interface ,middleware and back
end data, in one place

6. 1 tier architecture
Advantages
 Simplest, easiest
 Most direct
 equivalent of running an application on a
personal computer
Disadvantages
 Least scalable

7. 2 tier architecture
• supply a basic network between a client and a
server.

8. 2 tier architecture
Advantages
 Basic web model
 Improved scalability
Disadvantages
 it does not divide application layers

9. 3 tier architecture
• Client –server architecture in which the user
interface (presentation), functional process
logic (business rules), computer data
storage and data access are developed and
maintained as independent modules

 Advantages
 the three tiers to be upgraded or replaced independently
 Since the client doesn’t have direct access to the database
business logic is more secure
 Disadvantages
 It is more complex structure
 More difficult to set up and maintain it as well
 The physical separation of the tiers may affect the
performance between the three
 It is more difficult to built a 3-tier application
