  3. 3. MOTIVATION <ul><li>1.) Intrinsic </li></ul><ul><li>2.) External </li></ul><ul><li>We aim for our athletes to be in a state or condition of being motivated - not induced to be motivated. </li></ul>
  4. 4. CONFIDENCE <ul><li>1.) A full trust in their program that when they line up on game day that they believe they have a training edge. </li></ul><ul><li>2.) The best salesman is the one with the best product. </li></ul>
  5. 5. INTENSITY <ul><li>1.) A great energy, strength, concentration </li></ul><ul><li>2.) Don’t be out of control but be their opposition </li></ul><ul><li>3.) Vehemence - Feeling </li></ul>
  6. 6. FOCUS <ul><li>1.) One common central point. </li></ul><ul><li>2.) A sharply defined image, WIN THE BIG XII!! </li></ul>
  7. 7. EMOTIONAL STABILITY <ul><li>1.) Being able to maintain a certain level of a mental state </li></ul><ul><li>2.) Seeing through the fire, not being completely lead by anger. </li></ul>

  9. 9. BUILDING BLOCKS OF SUCCESS INDUSTRIOUSNESS < Cornerstone #1 > There is no substitute for work. Worthwhile results come from hard work and careful planning. ENTHUSIASM < Cornerstone #2 > Brushes off on those you come in contact with – you must truly enjoy what you do. SELF-CONTROL Practice self-discipline and keep your emotions under control. Good judgment and common sense are essential. ALERTNESS Be constantly observing. Stay open-minded and always be eager to learn and improve. INITIATIVE Cultivate the ability to make decisions and think alone. Don’t be afraid of failure – learn from it. INTENTNESS Set goals. Concentrate on its achievement by resisting all temptation and being determined and persistent. CONDITION Mental-Moral-Physical. Rest, and diet must be considered. SKILL The knowledge of and the ability to properly and quickly execute the fundamentals. Be detailed. TEAM SPIRIT A genuine consideration of others. An eagerness to sacrifice personal interests of glory for the welfare of all. POISE Be yourself, be at ease in any situation. Don’t fight yourself. CONFIDENCE Comes from being prepared and repeatedly doing things right. Success breeds continued success. Strive to do things right to build confidence. COMPETITIVE GREATNESS Be at your best when your best is needed. Enjoyment of a difficult challenge. Faith Patience Resourcefulness Adaptability Fight Ambition Integrity Reliability Honesty Sincerity Humility Sacrifice COOPERATION With all levels of your co-workers. Be interested in finding the best way, not having your way. LOYALTY To yourself, and all those depending on you. Keep your self-respect. FRIENDSHIP Comes from mutual respect, esteem, and devotion. Like any relationship it takes a joint effort and cannot be taken for granted.

  12. 12. FOUNDATION <ul><li>5.) Friendship: Comes from mutual respect and esteem and devotion </li></ul><ul><li>6.) Loyalty: To yourself and those depending on you </li></ul><ul><li>7.) Cooperation: To all level of coaches, teammates and support staff. </li></ul>

The top of our progression is POISE!, Be efficient, at ease and in control of any situation… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>i.e. The team that’s surprised by overtime, extra innings, or injury. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2.) Competitive greatness: Be at your best when you must be at your best! </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>i.e. Peyton Manning, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Mia Hamm, The Williams Sisters… </li></ul></ul></ul>

PHYSICAL ELEMENTS <ul><li>Balance – Equal distribution of weight </li></ul><ul><li>C.O.G – Center of mass of an object </li></ul><ul><li>Hip Mobility – Quality of moving freely </li></ul><ul><li>Quickness – Instantaneous reaction or action </li></ul><ul><li>C.O.D – Change of Direction </li></ul><ul><li>Acceleration – rate of change, or increased velocity </li></ul><ul><li>Deceleration – rate of change, decreased velocity </li></ul><ul><li>Speed – </li></ul><ul><li>Speed Endurance – </li></ul><ul><li>Strength, and Absolute Strength – Capacity to manifest energy, to endure and resist </li></ul>

POWER <ul><li>Fd/T (Force x Distance/ Time) </li></ul><ul><li>All Sports have a requirement for “Explosive Power” whether it is in the form of jumping, hitting or swinging a bat… The most successful individuals and teams in athletics are the ones with the most explosive capabilities. </li></ul>
