Year 10 Employee Rights and Responsibilities Contract Positive Discrimination Tribunal Trade Unions Direct.Gov Using the website Direct.gov – look up and explain what a contract of employment is. What is an employee? What is an employer? Complete this online questionnaire to summarise some of your employee rights.  http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/EmploymentInteractiveTools/DG_10028510 What is the minimum wage? What rights are you entitled to as a young employee? Still using Direct.gov give a definition of discrimination. Name the different types of discrimination you may experience Give an example of how an employer may discriminate against an employee. Under what types of discrimination may you be able to take action? Find out in detail about different types of discrimination – it might be a good idea to look at  sexual, racial, equal opportunities. What is the difference between direct and indirect discrimination? Look at page 56 and explain what an employment tribunal is. Read p38 of the text book – Looking at the case of Damian. Complete activities 1, 2 and 3 ready for a class discussion. Read page 40 – Looking at the cases of Karen and Sarat. Complete activities 1, 2 af7v nd 3 ready for a class discussion.
  • 2. Can you be bullied in the workplace? Give a description of bullying at work. If you experience discrimination, Bullying etc at work what can you do? Next lesson we will role play some different scenarios and look at examination  examples !!!!!!!!!!!!!
