Text Boxes <ul><li>Text boxes allow more flexibility when making brochures and newsletters. </li></ul><ul><li>Text boxes can be moved, resized, and colored separately from the rest of the document. </li></ul><ul><li>To insert a ‘text box’, select ‘Insert’ from the menu, and choose, ‘text box’. </li></ul><ul><li>The cursor will change to a cross-hair or plus sign. </li></ul><ul><li>Click and drag over the space where you would like the text box. </li></ul><ul><li>The size of text boxes can be changed after they are inserted. </li></ul>

Templates <ul><li>A template is a document or file having a preset format, used as a starting point for a particular application so that the format does not have to be recreated each time it is used. </li></ul><ul><li>Some templates come with Microsoft Word and many come with MS Publisher </li></ul><ul><li>More templates can be download from the Microsoft Office Home Page </li></ul>

Templates <ul><li>Other templates are stored on the instructors web page. </li></ul><ul><li>There are 2 templates (samples) of brochures and 2 templates of newsletters. </li></ul><ul><li>These can be downloaded (right click and select ‘save target as..’) </li></ul><ul><li>Once download, open up the template and replace its content (words, pictures, etc.) with content related to your topic. </li></ul>

Save to the desktop as needed. </li></ul><ul><li>Develop a professional brochure on a PE topic of your choice using MS Word or MS Publisher </li></ul><ul><ul><li>You can use a template or a blank word document </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>If you start with a blank document, you’ll need to insert 3 columns to make it a foldable brochure. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Include information on “ both sides” of the brochure which means your brochure will be two pages long; one page for the front and back and another page for the inside. </li></ul><ul><li>Include the following minimum criteria: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Data/information/details, etc. about the topic or facility or team. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Two Logos and/or Pictures </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Bulleted/Numbered items </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Contact information </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Email a copy to Dr. Emmett </li></ul>
