  • The oil and gas exploration and production world has changed dramatically over the past 10 or 15 years. Not just for BP but for every company in the business as well as every country that produces oil and gas. I’ve used this slide to try and show that change. On the far right I have shown the countries or basins of the world that were not available for investment some 10 years ago. Some have opened because of technology advances. New seismic and deep sea production techniques have opened up the deepwater GOM as well as Angola and even Brazil. Political changes since the early 1990’s has opened areas like Russia, Azerbaijan, pasts of North Africa and even part of Latin America. The competition for investment dollars is fierce. Fully 40% of our production by the end of next year will be from areas not open for investment 10 years ago. This is great for companies such as BP, there are many opportunities if you have the scale and reach to exploit them. This also comes with more risk – although some would say more diversification is less risk – but, that is one of the reasons for the oil industry consolidation in the late 1990’s – so we would have the scale to invest in areas such as Russia and Angola. So competition is fierce for investment dollars and more areas are open for Oil and Gas exploitation now than since the 1970’s

Utvinnbare ressurser (basis – Skarv kun) 14,8 mmSm3 (93 mmbbls) Oil & Condensate 39,6 bnSm3 (1,4 Tcf) gas. Lisenseierne er BP Norge AS 30% (operator), Statoil 30%, Norske Shell 25%, ExxonMobil 15%. Idun was discovered in 1999 and is primarily a gas development. It is located in licence PL 159 (blocks 6507/3-3) and gas reserves are 13,5 bnSm3 gas and 0,27 mSm3 condensate. The licence owners are: Statoil 50% (operator), Norske Shell 40%, Hydro 10%.
