    Incubation Online Support System
    Offline-Online Transition Guide
    1
  • 2. Strategy:
The objectives of the offline-online transition project is:
Deliver an online, web-based incubation support system that enables an integral heterogeneous incubation environment (online/offline).
Deliver a high-quality system within a limited time frame.
Implement the Agile methodology during the software development cycle to enable early utilization of the system’s core functions.
Ensure that the system is valid from both, security and user-friendliness aspects.

  • 4. The Users:
    Injaz staff (as Super Users).
    Corporates incubators (as Advanced Users).
    Startups teams (as Normal Users).

  • 5. The Process Flow:
    Apply to the program online
Application is subjected to a set of selection criteria
Once approved, the application is directed to the local Deloitte office/country where the company operates or intend to operate in
Corporate incubation is offered through a match making process, where the incubator chooses the company it wants to incubate based on its own evaluation of the services and support it can offer the incubated company
    • The company is physically incubated for six months and after six months they graduate from the program and have to be market ready and able to self-sustain through profitable operations or second round of Angel investment or Venture Capital Investment.
    5
  • 6. The Process Flow (Cont.):
Each incubator assigns a principal mentor
    • The mentor ensures adequate support to the incubated company through direct interaction with him/herself and other mentors in the incubator or through mentor networking activities (where the company is matched with business mentors from other companies).
Seed funding from Injaz (which controls the funding process) is offered based on a submitted budget (with maximum funding of $ 15,000 USD).
The budget is linked to certain milestones and the assigned mentor from the incubator is entrusted with monitoring the expenditures of the incubated company.
Expenses are monitored by the accounting entity who sign off on the account in collaboration with the incubated company

    7
  • 8. The System’ Main Tasks:
Provide 3 user interfaces, each for one of the 3 users types, where each has its own privileges.
Provide a platform for applications submission and receiving through the website.
Enable applications management to be done online (approval, rejection).
Offer the applications exporting/forwarding option to allow sending them to the other related parties (e.g. Deloitte).
Allow a user type-based access mechanism for each user by utilizing different user account groups.
Allow files management environment where each user owns his/her own folder and can (Access, Create, Edit, Delete), all depending on the given privileges.
Provide a summary status on the user interface showing the important info about the user , (e.g. startups teams could view their incubation time line, funding status, left fund amount, …).
    8
  • 9. The System’ Main Elements:
By adopting Agile development, the development team could release individual elements of the system on a short releases fashion. This enables the critical elements of the system to be usable and available to the users, while other less critical elements still underdevelopment.
    • Criticality of development: suggests how important is to have a specific element of the system developed and functioning before the others. Number “1” is a notation of the highest level of importance.
